didn't we just do something similiar 2 weeks ago, except w/o the brit stuff and tiger?

which map tho'?  and are there gonna be channel ack flotillas?

the lastest slot setup shows we can operate without fleets on a map.

hooray

it is pre d-day, base capture should be turned off. this has become my new soap box. otherwise i am sure we will get on at some wierd hour and the whole arena will be screwed because of milkers. 2 weeks ago the allies were in france and the axis in england. thanks milkers! i am sure this will happen again, or some other map imbalance due to them. if it is pre d-day just turn capture off. dont raise it to 15 troops, just turn it off. that is what happened in 1943, air battles.

i would really like to do a bob setup like this. introduce new planes everyday. start with the bare minimum on fri. just spit and hurri Is, 109e4, ect, with no base capture. then each day introduce new planes in accordance to a time line. i am not sure what times certain planes came into use, but with the community here this could be easily compiled. then on thurs, the last day of the setup, enable the goonies and have d-day. now it wouldnt be able to start till around 5pm, otherwise we know what will happen. then see how hard the allies can push and how hard the axis can push back.

i would also like for this to be a very dynamic setup. here are some suggestions.

limited fuel to simulate real fuel usage. the setup needs to be on the small bob map. nobody wants to fly forever to get a fight. plus that map has rear bases far enough back that bombers can get their alt. i have heard accounts saying that once german fighters reached england they would only have about 15 min worth of fuel for fighting before they would have to return home. so this would mean limiting fuel at bomber bases to 25% and fighter bases 50%, or something like that.

make the map lousy with structures. where london would be group a ton of factories together so it could be like a real city. also place several factories in england, maybe with some historical accuracy. on the other side of the pond place several depots in the west, and factories in the east. use some kind of scoring or counter to see how succesful the bombing campains are.

well, this has gotten pretty long, considering i was only gonna say "hooray". if you have any other suggestions on this type of setup let me now. if you know what i need to do to make this happen let me hear from you. snocone815@yahoo

oh yeah. and turn of the freakin base capture, this aint the ma!!!

Don't take this as a flame but up a Ju88 with 25% fuel and see how far you get if you climb to say 11K.  Don't bother with the external bombs, you don't have enough fuel to carry them.

i hear ya easy. i was just speaking in general. bases would be very specialized to fit the planes enabled there. ju88s would of course be based somewhere with more fuel.

Title: P-38 perked?
Post by: Oldman731 on October 11, 2003, 02:44:09 PM
An observation:

The P-38 is the only plane perked in this setup (on the allied side, at least; haven't checked Axis).

Although this makes sense in a historical way, it makes absolutely no sense in terms of playability.  The spit is not perked.  While I am certainly not going to advocate perking the spit (kind of like dousing myself with gasoline and daring people to throw matches at me), I do think that removing the perks for the 38 will encourage more people to leave their spits at home and try a real plane.

I agree with snocone. The CT setups make base capture too easy for one side at times. I'm not just talking about the Allies  having it easy.  Sometimes it favors the Axis. I'd like to see a setup with base capture off, it may be as refreshing as not having fleets.

Base capture is at 25 per base btw. It addresses that issue.

The P-38L is perked? Can someone confirm that for me? If so I'll have Skuzzy remove it.
