Thanks for the post!

I used it to find info about using an AMD XP-2600+ CPU on my Abit KR7A motherboard... looks like it will be my next upgrade.

yea yea i saw all that ... and im not pushing amd over pent .

I perfur to weigh the odds performance /reliability/stability/ease of use/ programability, ect    .... over the fastest bench tested thing out there.

Ive had bolth types of pc's
I lost my 2.2 ghz p 4 because of the fire last fall... way to much $$$ there . my 933mhz pent 3 died two months later ...
My AMD Lived thru it ... and as im still typing on it well that speaks volumnes ...

But when it comes to the best value for a gaming machine its cheaper to build an AMD based machine over a Pent

When it came down to replacing my lost pc's I built two AMD's for the less then what I had into the P 4.

 2.0 ghz amd
 1.3 ghz amd
along with a cpu upgrade for mine ... i managed to build a spare 1.0 ghz amd outta the spares from the p-3  but i wont count this one because i already had $$$ into it.

When you think about it what can the majority of the users here afford ??? along with what do they know how to do ??
thats what I base my opinions on .

I think if i was gonna toss the big $'s into a pc id be looking at the 64bit AMD's  and paitentally waiting for the prices to drop some and the technology to get proven 1st .
