The first combat you had in AH?,Ill never forget mine, fresh from Aw, I hopped into my shiny new AH Spitty IX ,flew off into the skies and after a while spotted my 1st victim (so I thought) a B17!!!!! an easy kill!!! I went under his rear, he must be asleep!700,600 550...my finger on the 'tit' when he proceeded to turn my Spit into something with more holes than a fishing net, I had instant respect for buffs from then on, sure was a tough lesson lol Ill never forget that 1st combat :D

yeah, i was sitting in m16 amazed at all the people flying about shooting eachother (i used to play CFS where it was only 4 v 4 or so) I think i was just randomly spraying at every enemy that came past, cant remember if i hit anything or not!

In a P51D, on one of the frontlines of the beta map watching Citabria in a P38, in the middle of a bunch of reds, doing all sorts of maneuvers and coming out alive after shooting down each one of them.

I don't remember my first AH combat, but I can almost guarantee that I went into a spin and augered.

Wasn't ready for the torque effect on takeoff, overcompensated and crashed into the ground. Second wasn't much better.

yes...i upped a shiney spit 5 pointed towards the nearest enemy base...some la7 came up behind me overshot and i started soraying at him till he was at d1.5...then i started turning wildly...i then proceeded to auger into the nearest hill
my first flight i upped (amazingly got of the ground) and proceeded to almost immediatly auger (mouse flying...damn near impossible at the start...and as far as i know i was the first even mouse ACE...took 1 month to land first kill...6 months to become a ace...)

Not even close.
Blckshp (412th FS "Braunco Mustangs") flies with a mouse (has been doing so as long as he has been flying AH, certainly a lot longer than you) and has landed 30+ kill sorties on more than one occasion.

My first sortie in AH was in a p47-d25....
I had rocket tubes on...
Saw a spitIX on someones tail dove on it held down trigger for a while spraying everywhere got lucky and got the kill.
Wish I could remember who it was...

I upped in a Hellcat with drop tanks and flew off toward the battle. Got to about 15,000' and did impression of falling rock as I dove through a pack of Lancasters. Yanked out just in time with my friend, whose computer I was using to, screaming "pull out pull out" in my ear. Did a quick look around realized I was pointed at my base so I ran home and executed a landing. Pumped on adrenalin and amazed that I actually lived AND killed something. Upped again and ran into Taki in his god forsaken N1K. Died. Upped again and ran into Taki again. Died. Upped again flew away from Taki waited until he was busy vulching. Swooped down and shot him to bits. I've had a Hate/Hate relationship with him and his Spit/N1K from that day since. It has gotten to the point that I can tell when I'm flying against him because of his break manuvers.

Coming over from Fa. I upped a 190A5, and back then it seemed like the cats asss. I actually got it off the ground before auto take off and what not. Proceeded to climb out and saw a 17 coming in. Man that thing was huge, and the A5 made a great missle!!! We think buff guns are bad now back then for my noob asss it was insane. Then again a 190 atacking a 17 doing 200 is rather insane but it was fun as hell. Back in the day when LJK was around near the beginning. Took about 4 months off or whenever the Dora came out and flew it for the first sortie and killed a spit!!! Then proceeded to die 15 times in a row.

First flight was too far back to recall any specific details worth recounting here. I do recall a more recent flight though.
Some goober in a Mossie was vulching our field and managed to bag me once. I am patient though and know that Mossies need fuel, so I waited. He did fly off towards home as expected so I grabbed an La7 and gave chase. I was so low I had to beat the squirrels off the canopy. I did manage to catch him close to home and probably feeling quite secure as he prepared to land. I saddled up on his low 6 and banged him like a drunk prom queen.

I remember leaving AW3 to come here when open beta came around. I still remember my first flight...jumped into a 109 because the 109 had been my "trainer" back in the AW days. I just flew around - talking on vox to an old squaddy of mine - saying, "Maaaaaaaan, the flaps move. The graphics are hot! The guns -- I can see muzzle flash!!! Woooot!"
I promptly landed the 109 & grabbed my first Italian ride ever (C205). Found a low furball. Almost overshot my target, barrell rolled to bleed off some E...ended up on my target's 6 at close range and blew his tail off.
I logged afterwards to email the rest of the squad..."You guys gotta get the hell over here...AH rocks!!!" :cool:

After years of anticipating on-line combat I finally got cable and stumbled upon AH. Downloaded it, flew a bit on-line until I managed to take off and land. Subscribed.
Figured out radar and took a field somewhat away from the action with a lone red dot approaching. Upped a Bf109-G-6 with 30mm (what did I know). The attacker was a lone A-20. I gave chase and closed on his low 6 and saw tracers zipping overhead. Got close, even could counter some evasives and shot him up with the 13mm's (I wondered why it took so long with that big 30mm). Expended all my ammo but he went down. I even managed to land the kill. Was sweating all over. I actually managed to shoot down a human opponent!

It was in a Spit IX during beta. I ran into another Spit IX and we had a flat turn fight that gradually lost altitude. I managed to turn better than him and shot him down.
He gave a and said it was his first flight in AH and he was from AW. I returned the and told him it was my first flight in AH and I was from WB and EAW.
I don't remember who it was. It was also my last flight until I signed up in v1.03.

I joined a squad (501 RAFVR) before i flew AH....i can't remember the CO's name but he had some strange obsession with sheep...who could that be i wonder?:D I upped a spit IX and climbed to 15k towards an enemy base. i spotted 3 jugs flying in a very tight vic formation, I dove on them (i had complete surprise) and shotdown 2 within seconds of each other before the 3rd noticed and made an evasive.
It felt so great.:)

I can't remember exactly, since it was in Tour 1!! I do remember upping a Spit9 and followed some other people. I ended up vulching B17s on an airfield, still weren't sure what I was doing but it seemed the right thing to be doing! :)

well i obviously didnt know that...as i stated as far as i know...well nothing wrong with being one of the few that can do it anyway...

I was in a P38 or a P47.. i taxied from the hangar to the runway.. climbed without autoclimb.. Stayed level without autolevel.. fought a spit9.. amazingly enough i didnt die for a good 2 minutes fighting this apparrent fellow newbie.. and i killed 35835125234624806464535723957 2 and died trying to do aerobatics through some hangars..

I dont remember my first fight fight but this one was quite early, it must have been the first 1.04 tour. I had just discovered how kick bellybutton plane niki was and got a nice streak. My victims started calling me names and I remember that one of them was animal. I took their advice and picked another plane, and proceeded to shot down animal in La-5. That was one of my best AH moments.:)

hehe...think I've got you all beat...
I 1st heard about AH at the 99 AW convention and signed up for the open beta a few weeks later. I had about 5 yrs under my belt in AW (mostly FR) so I wasnt a total weenie....anyway my 1st hop I run into Fariz in a 109. For those who didnt fly AH prior to 1.4 you need to understand that the FM then was much tougher (and better IMO). I honestly dont remember what plane I was in (really didnt matter) but Fariz proceeded to take me out behind the woodshed for about 20 min. I bet he hosed me 7 or 8 times before he ran out of ammo. These we're all fair fights (no bouncing or loading up E and pounding the "baby seal". Simply an outstanding stick with a great plane E fighting me to death.
Was the most fun I'd had in at least two years...never even logged into AW after that cept to say to old squaddies once in awhile.
Unforunately AH has been all down hill since then....but the 1st year was easily the best flight simming year I've ever had.....sigh.

I remember I posted about mine. First flight, first kill was the subject.
Then about 2 weeks later I posted that I was getting killed left and right and requested a trainer.

When I started I had a good amount of AW time behind me and I figured I would just up and start killing everyone. There was no auto takeoff in those days so instead I spent a good amount of tearing up runways instead of sky. Took quite a while before I was getting into the air, then came landing - yikes!

My first flight I took up a P51. I got to 20k and saw a B17 at about 28k. I climbed and caught him as he was RTB. I had to turn 90 degrees to get a good angle on him but I stalled and started a death spin from 29k. The engine died somewhere around 15k but I was able to get out of the spin at 10k...I did a deadstick landing at a friendly field and logged off. I felt good I was able to land but I also felt like a total n00b for not being able to execute a simple attack on a B17.
That's when I came to the realization that AH was going to be a 'bit' tougher than I thought.
My second flight I lawndarted a P38 trying to kill a 10k B26....must have been amusing to the bomber pilot since he had to comment on my proficency at lawndarting before I even hit the ground.

I was flying with a mouse.........This must've been a few generations of AH back, not sure of version number.
Anyway...I upped an an P51 because we didnt have niks then....
and proceded to climb out looking for something to kill.
I found a whole mission of p38s at about 5,000feet lower than me. I guess I figured I could just come in on the 6 of the mission and at least get a kill since I was so new and only had a mouse.
There must've been about 23-30 p38s in this group. So, I started to dive in on the p38's 6 and they didnt see me untill I was fairly close.. so I let em HAVE it..opening up all the guns I had...I must've killed at least 3 on the pass and another 7 in the furball that insued. The other 13 or so P38s for some reason went into a dive to get away and they of all compressed and augered. Anyway, I still remember some of those brave P38s pilots.....Most of them went on to fly with the FBs and the MAWs. Say hello to them when You see them in the air. I do :)

It was 109G6 in the early beta map, it was my first flight with AH, and it was online. I spotted a spit, dove, fire and "surprise". I was so disturbed with the bullet smoking trails that augered without scoring a single hit.

of time offline and in the TA before going online in AH, since I had no experience with online sims. Enjoyed it so much I signed up for a paid account before ever going into the MA.
My first MA ride was on the pizza map. I took off in a p-38 (still my favorite ride after over a year) and flew around looking for trouble.
Found an oblivious p-51 in one of the canyons. snuck up behind him and proceeded to use up almost all my ammo shooting him down. Started firing from WAY too far out. Got the job done, but it wasn't pretty.

Before I get into how my first fight was:.....
almost two years ago, I was bored one winter day after playing too much MCO, so I start surfing the web. Somehow, I ended up in a video game website with a link to Aces High. So I go to hitechcreations.com and I see that this game is free for two weeks. Well, I had never flown any flight sims and they never really caught my attention, but I downlowded AH anyways. I had a dail-up connection back then, so I left it downloading while I went out to get something to eat. When I come back, I was surprised i had been able to make that 26Megabyte download. So I start playing the game in offline mode I and I instantly fall in love. I played offline for about three days and then I wanted to see how the online mode is....
So I sign up for two free weeks and start playing in the TA. At this time I did not know about any plane, weapon, much less any fighter tactics. My second day there, I encounter a plane I cant remember. I was in a 205 flying w/ a mouse. He ropes me and busts me up on his way down. I instantly reup and go looking for him. Once I find him (he was strafing a VH), I sneak up, start shooting like crazy and manage to scare him enough to make him crash into the ground. I could feel my heart beating fast and that kill made me feel all warm inside.

Came over and gave it a test ... just at the end of beta ... went back hung out in FA ... tested each version as it came out .... jumped in the main in 1.04- 05 or so ... I remember flying a C-hog they wernt perked then ... and getting one kill then chased all over the place ... til someone finally got me ...
Paid the due's when the price came down to 15 bucks ...

My first kill in AH didn't happen for atleast 6 months against another aircraft. GV's - well lets say fishing was my specality. But aircraft I just didn't get. If yr stubborn enough like me, then it pays off.

actually, my first kill was myself, I KS'd on Hitech himself.

First flight was an event (took me a whole week to glide off "A1"'s hill). I climbed and climbed in my little SpitIX... saw a couple of 109's ahead of me, and started shooting at no less than D40.
They laughed and Killed me quickly.
So, I decide to take my revenge... and up a 109 G10 myself. I climb, I climb & I climb myself to 20k... and I spot 2 Spits. Start diving on them, right from the top. I don't know exactly at what point my wings went off, but I think I could still hear them both lauging as I augered at the speed of sound right below them.

My First Combat really sucked because I was usin a mouse. I upped in a 110, and was killed in the same instant I lifted because a Vulcher was behind me. Yep...

Just kiddin with ya. Yeah I get Adrenaline rushes when I am on Buff runs and have someone who thinks they are being sneaky and gets within 200 of me before I give up and open fire.

The N1K2-J was added in the AH beta and was still present (and always has been) in AH v1.00. The P-38L was added in AH v1.02.
It wasn't that funny.

First flight was back in Tour 1. I grabbed a gleaming Corsair outta the hanger (cause that's what everybody recommended), cranked her up on the runway, jammed the throttle full open and shortly thereafter slammed into the side of a hanger. Torque sure was mean back then...

Jeez, that's twisting my melon....lol. I've been following/playing this game for too long. I had to go back and look at the announcements post(from the beginning).....I remember seeing the screenshoots of the nik. Could've sworn it was added after the p38...lol. Anyway - found a lot of jarred memories from the post in there..
I guess you failed to miss the humor in that post......you know..the part about killing 7 p38s with a p51....after flying through them and killing 3....then watching the rest of em yard dart......now most of em fly for MAWs and FBs (more the Fbs)...all that was done with a mouse.... :P All in my first flight :)

Yeah remember it too, was shot down by citabria and cause i was flying the f4u-c he shot my chute too lol. that was tour 3 i think.
(I did not know how good those was then but learnt that pretty quick)

Beta Tour 2 - Swager shows me this beta version of a new flight sim. I d/l, start it up and select a Spit. I somehow manage to get up in air and am flying somewhat straight as I climb. All of a sudden I am in the Tower. I look in kill buffer and it's a dweeb named Torque. Don't know if he ever amounted to much of a pilot....
Some stats for Beta Tour 2:
sourkrau has 20 kills and has been killed 91 times in the Spitfire Mk IX.
Swager talks me into joining JG2 - suddenly I am a LW Ace:
sourkrau has 2 kills and has been killed 25 times in the Fw 190A-8.

My "score" says it all.... (I think it's great that individual stats are still available four years later!!!)
____Beta Tour 1____
58 kills to 107 deaths
More than half of those 58 were while flying the "easy mode" Spit IX. The rest split between the 109G10, N1K2 and 51D. I hated the view from within the La5 so I did not fly that one much. Heck I couldn't fly anything worth a damn really - (not claiming I can now either lol).
But my first kill was a 51D. Sky was full of 51d's or SpitIx's with a smattering of the 109, La5 and N1K2's. Can't remember who my first kill was because I was so elated at finally getting one I forgot to look at the text buffer to see who it was.
IMO that was some tough skies too. Besides learning to handle trim, torque, a whole new set of key commands as well as a FM there was also a LOT of online aircombat vets trying AH out. Naturally you were either the prey or the predator but the predators outnumbered the prey by a large margin IMO.

I can't remember my last encounter ... much less my first. I do remember to film things occasionally .... but I hardly ever review them .... just throw it all away. :D

My first hop fresh from AW grab a pony climb to 20k. Spot a squaddie low with a trail of spits behind him. MUAHAHAHA I am thinking iceMAW has arived get ready to die spits. I roll over dont chop throttle at first. 15k 10k chop throttle pull back on stick hmm nothing happens. Put both feet on monitor pull back on stick real hard hmm nothing happens. 5k I yell help my sticks not working 40dog says trim up!!! trim up!!!.
I say whats trim ground gets real big BOOOM!!! lawn dart. xxx has shot you down.
