				9773 today!

Been over a year that we've had a bull market.

Go DOW! Go DOW! Go DOW!

-
				GO BABY GO!!!

I'm really focused on HealthSouth right now but I also have my 401(k) to think about. :D I grabbed a thousand shares of HealthSouth when it was less than ten cents a share, against the advice of all my friends. It's hovering around 3 bucks now, you do the math.

When the DOW hits 11000 are you going to stay in or roll out into something else this time?

Always in, til death do us part. :) I'm pretty diversified, as I didn't take a big hit like some during the slide.  My dad is a brilliant amateur stock analyst and very good with his money. I've followed his advice since I was 21.  He retired at 54 and I hope to at 55.

I hope it breaks the 10,000 line again. I have the kid's school funds invested and will have to start drawing from them next August.

The financial advisor I have indicated one of the two funds I use for that has posted gains of over 30% this year alone and had less than 5% losses before. WOOT!

 Excellent!
Hey, what age were your kids when you began these funds?  I started one for each of the kids when they were 1 year old.  My 7 y/o's account has 20 grand in it!

I;m hoping they both have 100k by age 18 to give them a good start for college, something I didn't have when I was 18.

That would buy a lot of guns!  :lol

55 is a good retirement age. You should still be able to enjoy AH even with slightly diminished reflexes, but you may have to limit yourself to Spits and La7's. :p

I was shooting for 58 myself but with health care and insurance premiums increasing the way they are that may not be possible.

Retirement doesn't mean what it used to, I hope to have my teaching cert by then, maybe give a little back before I go.

There are people who do this for a living. :)  My portfolio is, like I mentioned, well diversified.  Mutual Funds, Bonds, and pure stock purchases. About the only tip I can give is "diversify" :)

As far as funds goes, the Oakmark family of funds has been good to me (us) over the last 13 years.

 Ain't it the truth!

There is a trendline that the market needs to break through.  It is at 9829 today.

				Rip,

I started it in 94 with 5k. It is now well over 20k and is split between 2 mutual funds. I had to start late with funds from my settlement when I was disabled. Cops don't make enough to invest a hefty amount. I took some of the cash and set it up for him. He starts next year and I plan on a community college first then finish at the university. I have been a student at both and the U doesn't impress me fro frosh and sophmore level education. The community college does a better job with better instructors, smaller classes and better focus. The U just wants to get your $ then weed you out. :(
