...with your squaddies:
3 B17's take off, Myself, Oct and LBE (All VMF-323 members). Now, we don't do ALOT of bomber missions, but months of formation training and ATG work instead.
SO there we are, lifting off from 48 climbing out to hit 46 yesterday afternoon US time. No radar, so I expect my other two squaddies to tighten up for better buff gun protection. We arrive at the target, our destined 20k alt. 1st pass complete, I go external view expecting to adjust flight path or speed to 'reform up' due to the inevitable break of of formation due to speed adjustments, bomb flight paths...nope, everyone within 500 yards, V -formation. 2nd pass, same drill, external view...hmmm, V-formation, D300 apart..."Okay, we were lucky, it was a fluke" I think to myself. 3rd and 4th pass, same drill, now after the 4th pass, I go external, D300, V-formation. Now one other squaddie has joined the formation in his P51D keeping just above us for egress home.
As we approach our friendly airfield from 25 miles out, I decide to challenge these guys...I start my let down, call out on RW "3000 FPM decent, 15 inches", a few min later I call out "On finals, gear down"...do a quick external view check..PERFECT formation.
To me, this is the best aspect of Aces High, the squad mates you fly with. Months and months and months of practice can pay off in different way, while we never practiced with buffs, the other training seemed to bleed over to our "Buff Run" yesterday.
Big <S> to Octavius (Oct), LBE and Deez for his fine escort.

Man soundz like I missed a cool mission. I was on Aces High supension yesterday because I spent too much time on Aces the night before (squad night) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I needed to spend some quality time with my wife (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Girlfriend tried to pull me into the penalty box too! Last night was pretty fast and furious but I was getting frustrated by the cable modem and "host connection lost". Last one happened while I was fending off Milenko's Typhoon against my b17. In all fairness, I hope he got credit for the kill, he made a beautiful approach in that I just couldnt swat down.
So, I wound up in the Penalty Box watching her favortite show with her "Charmed" (should be call "Cleavage"). Bleech, chick flick.

Hey Rip,
What am I, chopped liver? Seems to me SOMEBODY took in a 109 and made sure cons over that target were low, then got shot up by 88mm ack, then hit two acks and the VH (didn't hurt it much tho) with NO ENGINE. I CAN attest that that was the most impressive formation flying I have ever seen, hell they even LANDED in formation. Shouldda gotten screenshots. S! gents.

<S> Jeff, I did forget to mention who almost single-handedly kept then guys below off of us! Probably because it was primarily "outta sight, outta mind" flying by me. Thks for great 'scort job!

<S>! It was pretty fun (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I almost LIKED not having dar last night! Haha, I don't think we actually captured 46 any time that night, but it was still worth it. <S>

EDIT:
BTW! It wasn't a fluke, I'm just that damn good! LOL! <S>

It's nice to be in a squad where the members work as a team and keep it together for the entire flight. WTG.
BTW.. you guys are lucky the 412th didn't come across your path. We broke up 2 such bomber missions last week...
First was 4x B17 in tight box formation.
Second was 4x LANC in tight box formation with 2x FW-190D9 escort.
For 7 bombers and 1 FW killed, we lost only 1 P-51D and another retired early due to blown radiator (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I couldn't agree more... Having a plan, getting people to participate, seeing it come together (or for that matter go to hell (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)), but doing it AS A SQUAD, with your mates! That's what make this so damned much fun!!

Looked nice from my end Ripsnort. Shame I and one other nit were the only ones in the area that stayed around and fought. I got two cons, one 109 that was trying to climb to you and one N1K that was screwing around.
14-0 vs N1K. Why do people fly it?

And then begins the horrible scene when they realize what they've done and try to salvage what beer they can off of that individual! Ewwww (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/eek.gif)
