Title: Windows Movie Maker?
Post by: daddog on October 14, 2003, 09:16:09 PM
How can I get WMM to recognize the .ahf files?

First time I have tried to make a movie and had heard this is a simple way to start.

I sure spun in quick.

Just record it as an AVI from the external film viewer.   Of course you may want to do it a few times to get different views that you can mix when you make the movie.   Once it's an AVI you can load it into MM2.   But you can not directly load the ahf file into MM2.

I can set it to record as an AVI file? Did not know that. I will look for that setting in the film viewer. :)

Thank you sir!

Forgive my ignorance. How do you change them to an .avi file? I don't see a way to do that in the AH film viewer.

Far right....4th button down.

Be aware, you will need to choose a compression, and the part that allows you to save just a part of your movie (a 14 min avi would be a tad big), has a bug that sometimes GREYS OUT the 'selection only' radio button....if you get this, you need to:

CANCEL OUT

CLICK INSIDE THE 'END TIME' SELECTION BOX (no changes needed)

SAVE AS AVI AGAIN

I looked in the AH Film viewer. I sure don't see any buttons that will do what you are talking about. Or are you talking about the WMM? Not that I see any buttons on the right in that also.

Can you be more specific for idiots like me? :)

Supported file types
You can add content to your Windows Movie Maker project either by capturing content directly in Windows Movie Maker or by importing existing digital media files. The content you capture in Windows Movie Maker is saved in Windows Media Format. However, you can also import existing Windows Media-based content as well as other common file formats.

You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:

Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf
Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
I don't see anything for .ahf. :(

Daddog go to the start menu and select aces high.  From the there you should see a tab for a program called film viewer.

If you still can't find it use search to look for ahfilm.exe

Alf. Movie maker version 2.0331
On the far right side of my Movie Maker screen it is black. Yours has something.

When I try to open/import any AH film this is the message I get. Ahf is not a supported file type. :(

Daddog

Open the ' AH Film Viewer ' instead of the movie maker.
There you can find the button to click to make AVI -files.

Cheers !

Sorry to be so dense here. :)

In the AH flim viewer I see:
Open Trail Setup Quit
Nothing else to use.
Now under Open I see I can rename an AH film. Is that where I change the name of a film to a .avi file?

So my film 36 for example I could rename it ahfilm36.avi

Save it then open it in the Movie Maker???

Wow!

Just did the search for the ahflim.exe and found it. Never seen that before. I thought the flim viewer and the ahflim were one in the same.
