Title: Intro Music for Splash Screen
Post by: Black Sheep on October 15, 2003, 09:34:17 AM
Just want to get feedback...

AH has no intro music. Almost every other sim does - I'd be willing to produce a looped 20 second intro or collaborate with anyone for ideas to submit. I'll post a pic of my studio here in a few - but I'm runnin:

Logic Platinum 6, 24 bit
Dual G4, 1.5GB DDR, ATA133
Mackie UAD (2)
128+ tracks Fully Automated
Lucid AD Converters

I'll post a pic in a few...

Just wanted feedback to see if this is something to pursuit.

Nice Studio BS!  Sure blows away my little 4 track TASCAM . . .

I'll be over this evening with my Strat and Bass . . .

Cool idea. I'd collaborate on that. Maybe a guitar solo? I've got a decent setup:

Sonar 3.0 (http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/default.asp) with a myriad of softsynths (5 ms latency!)
Cool Edit Pro 1.2a
Alesis QS6 synth
Alesis SR16 drum machine
GR-1 guitar synth
ART Mic preamp
MK-319 microphone
Jammer 5.0
Jammer Live
Music Mouse (Midi'd via Amiga)
ModPlug tracker
8/8 24-bit DAC (Hoontech)
Alive (soundfont creation utility)
Vsampler 3.0
Line 6 POD 2.0
Line 6 AX2
Various guitars and bass
Electric violin
Harmonica
Kazoo

Softsynths: B4 (hammond), ARP Solaris strings (remember the song "Dogs" from Animals?), Pentagon, Triangle, Tassman 3.0, LiveSynth Pro, DR008, Cyclone, M-tron (Mellotron), and more.

I use Ozone 2.0 mastering software.

I've no doubt you guys are talented and could produce a great soundtrack but I'd lean more to perhaps hearing some swing or big band ... maybe sounding like it's being broadcast through an old RCA. Maybe with some Tokyo Rose or BBC in between tunes. But that's me. :D

Arlo - that is definitely possible with the right budget :)
I can make anything sound 1940's era with mastering tools.

I'm leaning towards a 30 sec spot that will be looped -
I need filler though....

war audio, flyby's, MG's, and a few BBC or American Broadcasts - If anyone has this stuff email me at
empire21music@msn.com

But I might incorporate a few old sounds to represent the era - along with some 21st Century tweaks to represent OUR era -

think marching snare tied in with a breakbeat, with horn and string swells...

I would like to see more players participate with input and audio clip contributions, then I can produce the track and submit to HT from 'the AH community'

Great ideas and all....but....

I'd rather it went straight to connecting 'online' when I click AH icon. As it is the clipboard moves into view too slow for my tastes on startup. :)

A splashscreen with music is only cool the first or second time, after that we all know we just 'esc' past em.

Acid

It would most likely loop throughout the process of the start screen, picking options, your arena choices, login etc... and would quit when entering the game - so if it takes you 5 seconds for all of that...then that is all you'll hear of it...

I can offer my services on my Alesis QS8.1...nowhere near the fancy studio you've got, but I can definitely do some keyboard work.

Collaborating across the globe would be time consuming, although possible through the Web using a real time interface.
I cant remember it's name off hand - but it was something Logic started. Anyways - The best input I could get audio-wise would be authentic audio files that I can insert into tracking, where tempo mapping is not an issue.

I could say that I need a solo noodling gtr track at 127BPM in the key of F#, but I don't want anyone to waste time if tracks might not 'lock up' to the grid

Keyboard tracks would work using sweeps and fades (ie Transfusion) - I could lock those up since there are usually only 1 starting positions for the audio...

Great idea, they could just add some code and the HTC frontpage flash animation's music.

Seriously tho, let us a folder to plug our own .wav as for the planes.

Black Sheep, if you ever decide to make an entire album of songs to fly AH by, do let me know, I'm a professional singer.  Some big band numbers in addition to some movie soundtrack type historic battle music would be interesting.

On second thought, knowing me I'd get to caught up in the music and forget to dodge enemy bullets.  Maybe it's not such a good idea. :D
