This is posted in Special Events General as well:
Gentlemen,
The Snapshot for this Friday night at 10 PM EST and Saturday at 3 PM EST is Operation Backhand Please carefully read the message of the day when you enter the arena. CM's will be sabre for Friday night and fd-ski for Saturday.
The Check 6! for Sunday will use the Mediterranean terrain, 1943. It will cover the invasion of Sicily. Fields used are shown in the map below. This will be at the usual time of 3 PM EST to 6 PM EST. Further details will be posted here Saturday.
After myself and at least one other missed the snapshot today due to some time confusion, I want to make sure I don't miss tomorrow's check 6.
The snapshot was run at 3pm EDT, not EST as posted in the announcement above. Is the check 6 event to be run at 3pm EDT?
Please, could a CM reply to this so we dont miss out like we did today...

Hi Brzwhalr,
Sorry for the mess. It should be EDT.
I'll ask the CM's about also adding a Coordinated Universal Time(UTC) too.

Alot of the write ups are done months before the event is put on. We are trying to make sure that all events get listed as Eastern Time instead of EST or EDT. This should help keep them easier to figure out no matter what time of year (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Yes please, this would be a great help for non-american players. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

EDT? EST? Eastern time? UTC?
AAAAAAAAAAARGH! I'm confused enough as it is. I got a keyring that tell ya the time in 140 cities around the world. Christ knows what cities are in EST.

Gents, to avoid confusion, we're going to start announcing the times as US EASTERN TIME. You may use whatever converter you like to get the correct time based on that.

What time is US Eastern Time? Does it change Summer/Winter?
Why don't we fix all to GMT? No changes between summer/winter, and general accepted time measurement.
Cheers,
Pepe

Pepe, all you have to do is go to your favorite time zone converter, and ask what time it is in New York City. I just did this at http://www.timezoneconverter.com/ (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/) and it came up with the correct time, converted it into GMT for me, AND told me whether New York is on daylight's saving time or not.
-
Exactly, banana, that's my point. You go to that page, ask what time is it in your town, click the "?" sign and...what do you got?
Yes, your town's time in terms of GMT +/- hours. So, if you give any time in GMT format, is the easiest way to have everyone pleased.
Cheers,
Pepe.

US Eastern Time is currently GMT-0400. It will remain that way until October when we go off daylight savings time (and then we'll be GMT-0500). For now, just add 4 hours onto your GMT offset. So if you're GMT+0200 you're AHEvents+0600. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
