What brand of car? I can look up recalls and service bulletins for ya.
There are aftermarket warranty companies that can extend that warranty for you. Depending on the brand, model, aftermarket recommendation to follow.
If its a BMW, forget the after-market warranty. ;) (unless they have one that extends BEYOND 200,000 miles.)

No, I was commenting that it'd be nice if there *were* after market warranties exceeding 200k...a joke. :)
Looks like only one recall for your year and make, I couldn't find a Ford TSB resource like we have for BMW's, maybe Ford doesn't want that info out there? (shrugs) Anyway, go to Edmunds and you'll find a few souces for aftermarket warranties if you do a keyword search.
Heres the lone recall for your car.
Make: FORD
Model: MUSTANG
Year: 2001
Recall Number: 00V349000
Summary:
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. IF A VEHICLE IS PARKED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE NOT FULLY APPLIED AND NOT IN FIRST GEAR, AS DIRECTED IN THE OWNER GUIDE, AND THE SELF ADJUSTMENT PAWL SUBSEQUENTLY SKIPS ONE OR TWO TEETH, THE VEHICLE COULD MOVE ON SOME GRADES.
Consequence:
THIS COULD RESULT IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT AND A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL AND INSTALL A PLATE OR OVER-BRACKET TO THE CONTROL TO LOCK THE SELF ADJUST MECHANISM IN POSITION FOLLOWING ADJUSTMENT.
Notes:
OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN NOVEMBER 28, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

Uh, yeah...typical Ford owner....:D ;)

I've seen numerous idiots who are trying to milk with service bulletins. In 85% of the cases their car is not conserned, for the rest 15% the mods have been allready made.

The Ford Basic Factory warranty should be good for 36 months or 36,000 miles whichever comes first, at least thats what it is on my CV.
I also purchased an extended warranty out to 7 years or 100,000 miles, wouldn't own any automobile today without one that went at least the life of the loan, anything over is cake. I paid $600 for a warranty on my wife's Montero and got $1,400 worth of repairs out of it before it expired.
It's good to be a service writer! Muahahahaaaa

A $100 deductable is awfully low and will make your monthly payments quite high. Try $500 or even $1,000.
That's my 2 cents.

what you do is disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmision, at the transmision. then attach a a drill via the drills chuck to the speedo end at the trans. run the drill at highest RPMs. this should be racking your miles all the way over so you start at the begining. pick the milege you want. since the odometer has been zeroed and then some. and start dealing with the salesman. im not sure if the new car computers will pick up on that trick.

All modern cars have digital speedos/odos so that won't work. Even if it would there's a good change that you will get caught. Your dealer has mileages from all your previous visits. Íf you go to different dealer it might work, but then again the manufacturer has mileages of all your previous warranty claims.

I routinely use alldata.com to check for potential problems with my vehicle before the warranty runs out. On my '99 F250 I got about $1200 worth of work done for free at 35,500 miles. New brakes and rotors all the way around was most of it and a nice touch from Ford. ;)
BTW, you just need to read though the list and see if any of this applies to you. Then go to the dealership and have them pull up the Bulletin and see what it says. Doesn't always say they'll fix it, btw.
For example, if you've got the automatic and have been wondering about that clunking noise when the automatic downshifts 2nd to 1st, you need to ask for:
01-13-7 JUL 01 A/T - 4R70W Clunk Noise on 2nd to 1st Gear Downshift
Yer welcome.

Can you pull up the data on a Ford 2002 F250 Diesel crew cab truck? Mine is about 10,000 km away from being out of warrenty. So far I have had one recall (acceleration module).
Thanks.

Muck, there was a service bulletin on the brakes, rotors and pads. It was one of those "if they complain, replace them". So I read that and complained. ;)
Habu, just check at http://www.alldata.com and pick your particular vehicle.
