I upgraded to the Cat 3.8 Omega drivers and now I CTD when I choose offline mode. I can get into video settings ok.

no its not ... or it wouldnt be playing on DX8

Not quite true, directx is "supposed" to be backward compatible. A program written to use the features of DX9 should work on a DX8 setup, with the DX9 features failing back to software emulation.

I havent seen one yet ,,, the dx9 games have demanded that dx9 be installed to play ... wb3 /doa3 is one example... they would not play with dx8.1

We are using DX8.1b.

Gray,..you got it backwards.  If code is written to use DX9 API calls, then DX9 must be loaded on the computer.  However, DX9 is fully backward compatible so you can still run DX8 and earlier code.
