I am very happy with my Sony Vaio PCG-FX390P. It's out of date (1 ghz) and does not play AH well, but it's a very well made laptop, so newer Vaio's might be promising.
The new model of laptop that I'm buying for my team these days is the IBM Thinkpad T40. They love it, but I can't comment on how well it does w/ games because I haven't upgraded yet.

Was poking around and saw that Nvidia was making a Gforce 4 vid chip for laptops.....
its worth a look

Try looking at PC Torque (http://pctorque.com/) or Power Notebooks (http://www.powernotebooks.com/index.php3) they both sell Sagers. Pc Torque has a forum set up for users so you could get some guidance there. I have a Sager 5660 that has a Radeon 9000 that works well for AH and other games. The one bad thing about it is that it is heavy but I don't carry it around much so it's not a big problem.

I'm having a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D8830 with 15inch 1400x1050 resolution, P4 2.67GHz, 512Mb DDR and 64Mb Radeon 9000.
When I get home I'll check the offline framerates in AH I and AH II; Downloading the game with GPRS would take little too long (I'm at our summer place with laptop and GSM). WWIIOL runs from 40 to 60 fps so my guess is AH runs just as well.
Another laptop I was thinking about was Toshiba's model with GeForce FX#### and 17inch widescreen display but it did cost little too much, about 2300€ here while this one was only 1600€.

Wait for a few weeks/months untlil more vendors get laptops with the ati mobility 9600 chip.
Atm i know that HP/Compaq is making one, Dell *shrug* is about to launch one and of course Apple (wont play ah tho)

The Sager already has the 9600.

Funny, I was just about to start a nearly identical thread :D
I've been looking for a little while now, Radeon 9600pro systems are fairly hard to come by so far but definately seem to be worth going after. Seems the Euro/Japan/USA all have different product cycles so finding a system in Euroland doesn't guarentee you'll get it in the USA.
I'm probably going to order this on Monday:
Intel® Mobile Pentium® 4 2.8GHz / 512Mb DDR RAM / 15” SXGA+ TFT / 128Mb ATI Mobility 9600 Pro Graphics / 60Gb HDD / Combo Drive / Video Camera / Windows XP Home / Ability Office & Antivirus
+ 3yrs Collect & Return Warranty! £1232.58 Incl VAT
Could have one with a 17" screen but I think thats going just a little bit too mad. :D
http://www.rockdirect.com btw. UK only I believe.

Few screenshots taken from Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D8830 (2,67GHz P4/512DDR/Radeon 9000):
AH1: First (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/ah/ah1_ahss0.jpg) and Second (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/ah/ah1_ahss1.jpg).
AH2: First (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/ah/ah2_ahss0.jpg), Second (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/ah/ah2_ahss1.jpg) and Third (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/ah/ah2_ahss2.jpg).
Didn't do any tweaking, just installed games and changed the resolution to the 1400x1050 from Program Files-> HTC-> Aces High-> settings-> video#.cfg
Guess I could get better FPS in AH2 if I would turn down the resolution but this LCD-screen is having best image quality at 1400x1050 resolution.

Look around, you can find a desktop chip laptop that Alienware puts out.
About 4 months ago, I found the company that makes their stuff, Alienware simply puts a new colored plastic on it and throws their logo on it.
It has a very short battery life, but with a full speed CPU and a 9600 vid card you can't go wrong. My nephew played on mine along side me in AH all summer getting frames that were higher than my desktop.
It has; 4 usb ports, 1 firewire, 1 internal netcard, 1 internal modem, etc etc.
