Title: AH, "Special Offer"
Post by: air_ReCoile on October 29, 2000, 04:22:00 AM
Isn't this funny, this is what they offer to new people who help them in survey. :
......"HiTech Creations, creator of Aces High, is conducting a survey to collect valuable information for our marketing efforts and product development. As part of this effort we have developed a limited time offer for you to join our game online. We've made arrangements for you to join the ranks of massively multiplayer flying for only $14.95 per month, unlimited months, unlimited flying until you delete this account. That means unlimited flying at a savings of $15.00 per month just for answering our survey. " ......

I'm not new, but happy to help in survey, lol. Seems a bit strange that the people that actually fly this game for a long time and made the game what it is today (a great game still) don't get the price discount!!!

Wonder if this price reductions has something to do with CFS2 coming out, it is about the same time frame.

By the way, the offers very from the different people I've spoken to, some had AH offered fro $19,95 some for $15,-. This doesn't make sense to me at all. These guys that got the offer tried out AH a while ago but didn't continue their subscription.

If this pricing discrimination is not a prank or some hackers way of fun, I don't like it at all.

Oops, guess I should have read the forum item below, hehe.

But still:

Pyro, it is not a question of customers  wanting you to explore pricing discount study, it is the way you do it.

The fact that so many players are disapointed it this point should speak for it self.

Nice intro to the community, Air.

"Hey, thanks for having me over for dinner. Nice house here, but it is really stupid the way you laid out your living room. I would have done it this way..."

I would normally say, "Welcome to Aces High", but you seem to be looking for trouble more than saying "hello!".   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Having met and had a few beers with the HTC gang I think they're a fun group.

I do not, however, expect them to run their business worrying about leaving me enough money to pay the bills any more than I base my decision on subscribing worrying about whether they can.

If 29.95 is not too much, keep paying it.  If it is, stop paying it.  If your feelings are hurt, grow up.

Its still amazing how people are getting caught up on this 29.99 BS. Don't you remember those 2.00 an hour charges. I think if it wasn't for this game the other game would still be 2.00 an hour. Think about it.

Do we know eachother Kieren, or are you on HT staff and one of those guys that can't take criticism??

Bit of a lame comment if you ask me. I'm seriously bothered with the pricing issue and i'm not alone,  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Can't remember that I ever offended you, so asking myself why you find it necessary to do so!!

Ok ReCoile,
I'll take a shot at this...
1st, no you aren't alone but you are in the minority. Most of us in the majority are satisfied to be paying the price that ALL agreed to when we signed on the virtual dotted line. Many of us are also more than a little tired of seeing all the posts regarding this issue on the BBS as well. Give HTC the opportunity to gather the information they need to make this decision and then YOU make your decision as to whether or not to continue being a customer or not, it's that simple.
2nd, kieren is one of the most gentlemanly and classiest guys flying this sim. If you read the BBS frequently you would come to know that and also would be aware of the dynamics of this situation as well. Your post displayed not only ignorance of this matter but also a bit of an attitude as well. I think this is what kieren was responding to. So, there it is. I hope that makes it a little cleaer to you what is happening here. I would advise having some patience and gaining some perspective perhaps before you continue to harp about something that none of us has any control over whatsoever and wait to see what comes of it. HTC not only has every right to do this but their record unfailingly shows a willingness and commitment to doing the right thing for their customers.Nuff said.

Air-

Kbman is right about my intent- if you read the 250-some-odd long thread on this BBS you can see this has been hashed over-and-over. The viewpoints to me seem to be those that are patient and want what is best for everyone, and those that don't care what the intent of the survey was/is, they want their discount now.

Interesting, too. Many of the people demanding "respect" were beta players, meaning they played on HTC's dime. Now, when the intent is to lower the price for all customers if feasible, they are concerned about the money they are paying only because they know someone is paying less!

I'm sorry if I was harsh, but this topic is growing way thin. Some people are big picture people, some are not. The first post I ever saw from you starts out with a slam on HTC for not giving everyone the discount. Honestly makes me shake my head. Even after you read the big thread, you came back here to continue the thought.

I am not against diverse opinions, really. I do have my own, however, and when I disagree with someone's opinion I will say so. I apologize if I offended you; Kbman is right, I never attempt to personally attack anyone. I did think you came across harsh in your post towards HTC, and it was that I was reacting to.

I do not work for HTC, per se. I have been a trainer, I am a CM, and do volunteer work on the Events and Calendar sites. I am involved you can say, and for that reason I guess I do take HTC's side on most issues. And before you ask, yes, I pay my $30 just like you do (as far as I know anyway; the wife pays the bills.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)).

This issue isn't about whether I want to pay $30 a month. It is about what will make HTC succeed. Your $15 a month subscription won't do you any good if HTC goes out of business. The reasoning has been explained ad infinitum so I won't go through it again. The intent is to discover what is the best price for everyone, and that is the most important thing to remember.

I hope you and the others who are upset stick around, but of course that is your decision(s) to make.

You say you are entitled to your opinion, so am I. "Harsh" is a matter of opinion too I guess.

And I'm not one of the beta players. I started the game 6 month's ago. So I'm certainly don't have any profit from that time.

The fact that only a small number of players posts in this forum doesn't mean that the majority agrees to this pricing matter, you could do a survey on that amongst the players of this game, looking forward to the outcome of it.

And last but not least, this is not my first posting, sorry if you missed my first.

Hehehe I am less interested in price than I am in restoring some of the fun, the gunnery is really tuff now and planes are waay to small for me, plus net lag seems to be worse here than it was and they seem to have really nutered the Hog so all in all it will my fun quotent that will decide if I stay or go NOT the pricing thing altho I wish they could have avoided "mess" with a better way to find out things.
