built a new machine .. p4c800-e mobo 2.4c cpu oc's stable to 3.2 ghz (tested the problem at stock clocks and still there, pci and agp busses locked to default in either case) zalman hsf 2x256 ocz pc4000 gold pretested matched dual channel ram  ati built 9700 pro 120 gb 8mb maxtor c drive 2x 80gb maxtor data drives 2 optical drives Turtle Beach santa cruz from 0ld machine  new install xp pro fresh install of AH ms prec. pro stick   ok the issue my engine and periphiral sounds cut in and out especially the engine sounds  they always reappear whenever some one speaks to me on vox or I shoot my guns etc and dissappear randomly and reappear randomly also  tried reinstall  of AH, & sound drivers, use wave and not use wave in vox  never had this problem on old system and didn't have it using the onboard sound with this one  ( but FR's take a hit if I do this)  any ideas for a solution here ??  or other things to try ??

just an update did the dxdiag noted in tips and moved the card to another pci slot  still no help

Check for updated drivers for tha sound card.  That would be where the issue is, based on the information you provided.

the ones I have are the latest ones available.. gonna move my folder for htc off my F drive to my c drive and reinstall on top so I dont lose my settings  maybe that will help

nope moved AH to C:> installed older TB drivers  still same problem :(

Did you disable onboard sound in bios? Is the speaker configuration in control panal correct? If the sound card is in top pci slot it may be sharing an interupt with the vidio card causing conflect.
