Haven`t been on since last Friday morning until today.
I saw at least twenty uses of the term dolt on text in the MA within an hour.
Has HT started the final count down by inducing the term DOLT?
Little lambs eat dolts
and goats eat dolts........................ .................
We have had it wrong for all these years.
Baaaaaaaaa baaaa ba`ba`ba ` baaaaaaaaa

I woulda changed my handle to "Dolt" already, but I'm sure 50 people have already called HTC and asked for it.

Please explain the finer subtleties of the word "dolt" to a person who speaks English as a 2nd (or 3rd) language.
I feel like I'm missing out on some of the fun.
I'm used to playing with words, deliberately using a word with the right meaning but with less idiomatic accuracy. Taking up childhood expressions in adult conversations. And all the sublime fun that can be had with such and all related things.
Why is it that "dolt" makes everyone smile so much? Is it the word or is it simply the fact that HT called us names?
Oh, and this post is serious. I'm not fishing. I don't even have my rod with me.
(Funny... there are so many levels of meaning and irony on these boards that I felt the need to mark my post to be taken face value.)
(I'm also aware that I may have laid my head on the guillotine)

I'm glad that you said you're serious about your question, jodgi. I figured it for a troll. :D
It's funny because hitech told us that we're a bunch of ignorant fools. But, he said it in a politically correct - almost non-offensive - way when he used the word "dolts." His action was understandable because there were too many clowns complaining about the quality of AH2 -- an unfinished product.
Dictionary http://www.m-w.com:
Main Entry: dolt
Pronunciation: 'dOlt
Function: noun
Etymology: probably akin to Old English dol foolish
Date: 1553
Definition: a stupid person, usually a Bish or Knit in Aces High[/color]
Hope this helps. :)

I find the word dolt, in and of itself, a funny word, like duffus, dork, ding-dong. Maybe its a colloquealism that can't be translated well. Don't know it's roots. Anyway, I am a natural born monoglot, unable to learn any other languages. That must make me an American.:)

...colloquealism... ...monoglot...
When I finally had sussed it out, you through (hehe, there you go: throw) two more words in the air...

I was driving the other day and some Dolt cut me off in traffic, I yelled "Fricken Dolt" my wife laughed at me.. Then she asked what the hell a Dolt means... Not having a perfect answer I told her it was a guy from texas........
The car that cut me off had texas plates.... :)

It is Kind of interesting why the word "dolt" should resonate here so well.
Words often have a flavor of their own. To me, for no particular reason, the word dolt brings to mind a clumsy sort of idiot, who doesn't know how stupid he is, going through life with a false sense of superiority. I think it matches a few proud commandos here who don't realize how idiotic they look bragging about their elite abilities as a make believe fighter pile-it, when in reality the majority couldn't even squeeze into a fighter cockpit. Ummmm... this kinda sounds like me <=o[
Then again, it may be just the fact that HiTech found a brand new word to diss us with.

HT didn't call everyone ignorant fools, just those that are too stupid to read instructions that were posted with the beta announcement.

I'm beginning to think your obsession with the term Slobberdonky stems from the fact that you have never been on the business end of one Shane.;)
