There is a big price difference for OEM vs retail at Newegg. Is buying the OEM version a bad choice?
Thanks,

They are the same card. ATI learned its lesson from the pre-9xxx releases not to make the OEM card any different. It just does not come with the goodies.

It'a a toss up I always go with retail.
But I know my wife is going to kick my tail anyway so a few extra bucks You know LOL.
OEM you get card and driver CD
retail you get above and some games i think.
Do what you're budget will allow man.

Thanks for the replies. LOL my wife is going to Japan next week so I will order it then. I never tell my wife when I buy new toys so my budget is fine. I just don't want to pay for games, etc that I don't want or need. :D
ps. Think I will order an Nforce2 board/ Barton 2500/RAM while she is gone , also.

I've been pretty happy with my Epox 8RDA3+/barton2500 OC'd to 2800
less than a hundred bucks, and has all toys, to boot.

I know with some companies OEM means shorter warranty periods. An AMD OEM chip has a 1 year warranty vs a 3-5 cant remember year warranty on a retail chip. Not sure about ATI's warranty on OEMvsRetail though.

It's better to say you're sorry than ask for permission LOL:aok

Yup, besides I handle all the finances and she doesn't even know how to turn on a computer. Her trip toTokyo is gonna cost way more than my little upgrade. Also, this will ugrade 2 puters as I will take the goodies out of the Hawaii box and install them in the Guam box.;)
