As the great chevy chase once said to danny noonan: "The world needs ditch diggers, too."

I used to be one, but I retired and forgot exactly what it was I did.
It must have been important because now I'm rich and sleeping in every morning.
I say "go for it..."

I loved that one, but my favorite version of the same quote came from 'The Titus Show' a few years ago.
Titus (as a kid): "teacher says we can be anything we want when we grow up"
Stacey keech (as his dad): "she didn't mean you son, now get back out side and practice diggin ditches"

Heres what i do :
Computer support - Maintinance/development (200 workstations)
Servers - Maintinance/development (about 12 servers, Novell, 2000, Terminal server/Citrix Metaframe, Lotus Notes, SQL, linux)
Network - maintinance/development (Offices in 23 locations all connected togheter)
Security - Maintinance/development
Telephony - Maintinance/development
Webbepage - support/development
Intranet - Maintinance/development
And this is djust from thinking 2 mins about what i "do" :)
But i sure as hell dont think im an "analyst", an analyst dont do any work at all, they djust "design" the systems.
They couldnt do squat if you told them to solve an technical problem...

The word "Analyst" covers a broad range of IT/IS jobs. My title is Engineering Applications Analyst, which involves testing new engineering applications, researching them and support of released products however I do Project Management about 50% of my time.
One thing that sucks where I work, you don't get to be a jack of all trades in the IT/IS aspect because they compartmentize every aspect of those jobs, we have one guy that takes care of our hardware, one that loads the software, etc. You're in violation of engineers union rules or Salary job roles if you cross over into one of the other areas. :(
As Maniac said, "They couldnt do squat if you told them to solve an technical problem..."
I probably wouldn't know squat from a hardware aspect if problems arose, but then again, he'd be scratching his head if I showed him how to create a spline, use "Porcupine Analysis" on that curve, adjust it so that it was in tolerance, and smooth enough to build a smooth surface(V5 is the best CAD system I've used since 1985)

Rip, look at my list of the work i do, and then take an guess at where i work...

Study up on your math. You're going to need college-level Calculus for your MIS degree. (MIS = "Managed Information Systems"). And of course there's the computer programming courses you'll have to take.
Like Mr. T said in his cartoons:
Stay in school!
Don't do drugs!
Drink your milk!
and don't give me no jibba jabba!

I wouldn't choose your career based on a test. Choose something that genuinly peaks your interest.
