The lawsuit industry was protected once again by Democrats.
lawyers PWN the Democrat party (http://www.washtimes.com/national/20031022-115704-7759r.htm)

This is the most offensive part of it all:
Even Democrats acknowledged that yesterday's vote could hurt them in future elections.
These bastards are not in DC to represent their interests. They are there for us. Time to send the lot of them back home to real jobs.
-
Do they even know how to do real jobs anymore?
-
This one offended me the most...bastage.
The reform effort lost just one Republican, Sen. Richard C. Shelby of Alabama. Mr. Shelby, a lawyer, has gotten $617,920 in political contributions this election cycle from the legal industry, the sixth-highest amount among federal officeholders and tops among Republican legislators.

Merely a coincidence, of course...

*waves hand*
Yes, mearly a coincidnece.

Sen. Christopher J. Dodd, Connecticut Democrat, took right to the Senate floor and said he is "committed to class-action reform," but opposed yesterday's attempt at it because he hadn't been more involved in the drafting of the bill.
That is the one I like. Translated to english, it means: "It was a good bill, but they wouldn't let me take credit for it, so F' em"

and they wonder why we throw em out for actors and wrestlers... I would vote for a boxboy at the supermarket over a politician.

Being a lawyer is like being a cop, no one likes one until they need one.

They may not like Cops, but I bet the respect them.

Not liking a cop until they need one is a phrase used by cops.
-
Ah, I wouldn't know, I have always liked AND respected them. Lawyers, I have never needed, liked or respected, except on a personal, social level.
-
So if you needed a lawyer, and he did a good job protecting you, you would still dislike and not respect him?

The point is that the lawsuit industry is out of control. We don't allow cops to kick down doors and search homes at random, yet lawyers are free to abuse the legal system for their own greedy ends. Other industrialized countries get by just fine with a fraction of number the of lawyers we have.

We are a porduct of who we elect. They put the laws in, not the lawyers.

Wait a minute... it's juries and judges who decide if the cases have merit and what damages to award....
Could it be that Judges and Juries don't have any common sense to see through the fraud that these lawyers are foisting upon them?
Or could it be that the law suits do have merit and the big corperations which are being sued have caused substatial damage to consumers?
Like the Dalcon shield, breast implants, Ford Pintos, Thalidamide...
Love Canal... 3 mile island... What's that case... Brockerwitch was on?
I guess the common jury is just a bunch of morons... just like the average American... right?
Is that what you anti-class action people are saying?
-
^ excuse me but what is a Judge? A lawyer who is in charge!
Most lawyers are scum..not all but most.
Jurys are selected by the lawyer on the basis of who they can control. So YES most jurers are not very bright.
-
Lawyers are like nukes. You have em because the other guy has em, and you if you use em it f>>>'s everything up.
I agree with Sandman for a change.

The only thing lower than a lawyer is the fly that got landed on by the cow T URD that droped in on him:aok
