LOL.
I figured it was time.
Some of you do not think there is an iminant threat to our right to bare arms. I do.
I do not think it is a big issue now, but wait tell a Dem or even some Reps, get back in ofice and you will see them start trying to erode our rights to bare arms again.
I want to be part of the fight to keep them.
I want to be able to buy an evil black rifle again darnit! I never should have sold my AR-15.:aok
-
It's too cold for bare arms.
-
Ra
Not in sunny CA! Hell I am going to take my M1 Garand to the range this weekend, they are saying low 90s.
Fun stuff.
I do not think we will get any rain here tell Nov.
-
I'm going shooting tomorrow :)
-
Good to see... Welcome
-
I bought a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 rifle and will pick it up tomorrow (damn CA 10-day wait crap). I will be heading to the range also with my new honey.
I've also considered joining the NRA. I will look into it again and may pull the trigger. :)
Have fun at the range boys!
Oh GTO, I noticed you're in Fremont. What range do you go to? I'll probably go to the Los Altos one on Skyline. Have you ever been to the one near Stevens Creek?
-
Another confirmed Redneck!!! jk :)
-
Makarov9
I have never been to the skyline range, I hear it is cool cause it has a pit where you can shoot cans and other stuff most ranges will not allow.
I may check that out this weekend.
The ones I normaly go to are Chabot gun club up in the Hayward hills. It is a pretty nice range and the range masters take it serius so no one does dumb stuff. It is a bit stiff, but ok.
I also have tried the one in San leandro, but it sucks, for rifles you have to shoot softnose rounds.
-
good work guys! We really do need to support the NRA... it is only $35 a year and you get insurance and 12 months of "American Rifleman" which I guarentee that you will find as interesting as any mag you pay $5 a pop for.
Just joining is a big deal... when the NRA can say "we have 5 millon members and we feel that..."
lazs
-
I think I am going to join the Chabot gun club as well.
I need to do something that gets me a certification that says I have fired 50 rounds in some kind of marksmenship program so I can buy a CMP M1 Garand.
Best way to get one cheap.
-
Way to go...
You are now officailly a part of the largest political lobby group in the US.
Your $35 will go towards a new gold shower spout for one of the directors. ;)
Just kidding guys..please don't blow a gasket.
-
I joined NRA before I even had a gun.
-
Curv,
I see it as, I just joined the special interest group that protects all others rights.
If the second amendment goes, the others will follow.
The NRA does what it claims, they protect my right to own firearms.

I held of cause my dad was not a big NRA fan, kinda wacky but he was convinced they have members list with addresses and he thought that was an invite to a theif.
I don't think this is true, though I used my non home addy.
-
Life member of the NRA, and leaving for an elk hunt in Idaho in 3 days!:aok
-
Ok, just joined also. I should have done this a long time ago. Thanks for giving me the push to sign up!

Man funny story.
So me and my brother in law take my M1 to the range, the front site had been loose last time and I fixed it so we are trying to site it in.
I did not know you needed 8 clicks on the elevation at 100 yards.
Some older fellow, I would say in his mid 80s is watching us, and I think watching the target through his scope. He comes over and makes some site adjustment suggestions and then asks if he can have a go.
So I sit down behind the spotting scope and watch as the old guy puts all 8 rounds from 2 clips into just over 3 inches!
He stands up and grins, "You have a nice shooting M1 there!"
I think it made his day, lol, but I was red as hell, having been outshot badly.... hehe
He carried on in the army and I am betting a war.
:D

Cool story. I'm actually really anxious to fire my Mosin-Nagant 91/30. I've never had/fired a bolt-action, large caliber rifle before. I have several pistols and an M1 Carbine (which is a fun lil' rifle). I have a friend coming to the range who is an expert at the long rifle to give me some tips.
-
Just stepped out of the office and popped off 100 44 mag rounds... man that Dan wesson is one accurate sob!
We had a plastic milk jug that was full of frozen water and I tried a hP reload on it... snow cones for everyone... on me.
really guys... thanks for joining. you made my day.

Wish I was there Lazs. Would love to shoot the .44. My wrist are a little big bigger than Beetles so I think I would be ok with it. :)

LOL.
I figured it was time.
Some of you do not think there is an iminant threat to our right to smoke doobies. I do.
I do not think it is a big issue now, but wait tell a Venstre or even some Dansk folk parti, get back in ofice and you will see them start trying to erode our rights to smoke doobies again.
I want to be part of the fight to keep them.
I want to be able to buy an evil black afghan finger again darnit! I never should have sold my hydroponics.
-
Maybe you should put the crack pipe down and move along...
-
See! Another foreigner attacking our freedoms!

Of course the NRA insurance doesn't cover gunshot victims.
-
WTG fellas!!! The NRA is not the "gun lobby." It's the freedom lobby. I believe they are the only thing standing between freedom and opression in the United States. Not only do they represent the interests of gun owners through defending the Second Amendment, but also keep close tabs on those who would undermine the First Amendment as well.
20 year member here.

Most excellent news, welcome aboard! :aok
-
I have the Nagant 91/59 and I will have to say that "I" Suck big time, with accuracy with it. :)
Kicks like a mule and tends to leave me with a sore shoulder after the time at the range. Helluva alota fun :)
-
I used to be a member but I've found that I might as well give money directly to the republican party. so I just keep the $35 and send in $35 less to the democrats.
that way I get an extra $70 to spend on ammo and it all evens out.
-
The NRA is a great organization. I agree they are not about guns, they are about freedoms. The only complaint I would have against them would be the millions and millions of letters I got from them asking me for more money. Thats all. OH and my NRA sticker faded in one arizona summer
-
Life member since 1976. Good organization.
-
Are you the guys that wear bedsheets?
yowser
-
My father signed me up in 1968. Welcome aboard GTO!
-
lol, beat that NRA wannabes!
Somewhere Captain America is giving his shield to some kids to toboggan down a school yard hill in pure shame of Dripsnores mastery of all that is tough, and gun, and American.
-
Been a member of NRA for decades.. The only dowside is that they dun you for money all the time. Not a big deal.
I think any gun owner who is not giving something to some pro gun outfit (there are a few others) is getting a free ride and making excusses for his being a tightwad freeloader. That's fine... but don't pretend otherwise.
What I figure I get for my money is this... I get a really good magazine subscription every year and some insurance for gun theft or accident... Yes airhead... they do insure against gun accidents. I also like knowing that when the NRA talks about guns to the spineless, lying, greedy politicians in this country they can say.... "we don't want this POS, useless law passed and we speak for at least 4 millon people (or whatever it is now).
I want them to say "we speak for 100 million gun owners".

Unless you are a rabid neurotic about guns or... you have no idea what the NRA stands for or fights for... You will find nothing offensive about what they stand for or do. Think about it....
All the womanly gun haters never say why the NRA is so terrible... they only generalize... like all gun haters they are ignorant and lazy and decietful.
