(1) I was flying a P47D-30 on Mindano chasing a bandit. This plane is climbing north towards the ocean, and I am in a full power climb. We go from 10,000, to 20,000, to 30,000, up to almost 40,000 feet. Finally I get within visual range and the enemy a/c is an N1K2-George (off topic but calling it a niki makes it sound girlish). So I close to gun range (400yrds) but decide to get closer. Then I see the planes prop is stopped. Must have ran out of fuel. I back off to 200 yards and blast him. I think we were at 37,000 when I got the kill.
(2) Some friendlies and I were on the coast strafing a town. Everyone had expended ordinance and the goon was inbound. So this Newfie B26 pilot comes in and says "I am on bomb run to the town". So we are all orbiting and this B26 dives from about 3500 to 25 feet, flying about 400mph, and drops his entire load. I don't even think the bombs armed and even if they had it wouldn't have hit the target. So the newfie gets on the radio and says "Did I hit the town, did I hit the town?". To which I responded "That was the funniest bomb run I've ever seen".
(3) One time an IL2 shot my 262 down. I was sad.

The weirdest thing.. let's see..
Oh yes.
Those times when I get shot down at 600~800 yards while extending - sometimes even during slight jinks.
But then I got used to that, so I guess it ain't really 'weird' anymore.

In my early AH days, when my pingtime was about 800-900ms, I see lots of "strange" stuff :D Nowdays its better.
BTW is that pesky F4U still there in MA which could instantly change the flight vector 180 degree after merge? Boy, THAT was strange to see several times! :eek: Ahwell, maybe it was just regular netfart :rolleyes:

Was manning an AA gun at a airbase and this enemy plane comes in on his attack run. Just as he hit 2000 yards for range I pull the trigger and he zig zags three times about 1000 yards. Somehow I managed to hit him anyway and he plowed into the ground. Dang near broke my joystick trying to follow that plane and got in an amazing shot.

Probably the time when Midnight and Hitech were having a fight and I dropped in to spoil their party.
Suddenly I CTD'd for no apparent reason.
Weird.

I decided to gun for a squaddie in his lanc formation doing a run on a CV. After a succesful bombing run, nmy fighters shot down 2 of the lancs and soon I was in the tail of the last and it started tumbling.... tumbling... tumbling.... Noone was piloting, I couldn't take control, I couldn't bail, I didn't lose any alt, didn't lose any speed. I pinged a F4U that was chasing me, but he gave up, probably because he was a little uneasy about this lanc barrelrolling into eternety without ever augering.
Eventually I Alt-F4'd my way out.
It was probably a net burp, a pretty strange one...

Was the F4U driver Torque?
If yes then it was a very frequent occurance

Flying Ostwind. I actually engaged the osti in the air. I was flying an a6m and actually damaged the panzer. This was witnesed from the ground as well by a friendly GV.
Even the guy "flying" the Ostwind didnt know how the heck he was able to pilot the tank through the air.

Taking off in a typh, I brushed the control tower enough to make the plane veer off course a bit - no damage, kept going.....

I got a film on one of my cds somewhere. Of a lanc that just bombed the western HQ on Mindinao. I caught up to him at 30k in my 262 as he was passing that port and heading for 22. He proceeded to dive and out accelerate me as I was trying for a pass from his low 3, his speed was about 540 I had to chase him for 2 sectors before finally on the deck I got a a few kilometers space for a reversal and shot him down.
Then there was the B-17 that outran my 234.

I once saw a bogey that was about to get me zoom like a ufo, higher, higher, higher and higher until he was gone. I suspect he stole the RATO packs off a 234 and mounted them a wee bit out of alignement.

Tigers dieing to single near-miss rockets in the front armor..
Panzers and Osties taking direct hits (hit sprite) from rockets and not losing anything..
Bombs that don't detonate when dropped from 600 feet AGl, adn bombs that explode from 300 feet dropped out of lancs..
Shells and bullets going through GVs at all ranges...
I'm done.

was gunning for one of the AK's lancs while he was afk once (think it was AKWrong) he ran outta fuel and we started to glide to mother earth (i think he left autospeed on).
At about 1k alt 3 cons show up, I shoot down 2 and the lanc manages to ditch itself on autopilot still, once on the ground i couldnt fire, the con augers trying to vulch and i land 3 kills from gunner/observer.
The enemy base we ditched by was blinking for about 10 mins while the lannie was still ditched there and wrong was still afk!

In the early days of AH. after a particular patch we became plaqued by UFOs following us around. After some investgation, we found out it was our clipboards.

Wierdest thing I've seen was in the first version of the Trinity terrain, pulling one of the freewheeling 90mph downhill runs in a Panzer IV, and I made a course correction so that I wouldn't hit the bottom square and bounce my tank high enough to overturn. Of course, I overcontrol at that speed, and my tank starts to roll -- right[/u] as it hits the polygon joint.
I will never understand how I managed to do it, but my tank did two complete rolls in mid-air, landed upright, and kept going. Unfortunately, I didn't have the presence of mind to be recording the run, and was laughing so hard after I landed the jump that I missed the next polygon break, hit it way too fast, rolled over, and died. I really wish I had film of that... it would be a real conversation-stopper.

I was shelling a base from max range with the cruiser's big guns once (had some serious gun elevation going on), saw a blip of a hit sprite way out and pretty high and got the kill message hehe... that was cooler than it was strange.

was followed up to 45k by a spit9, then outaccelerated and out performed very easily, it seemed, in a ta152.
A burning plane sawtooth-warping inside and out of draw range for a few minutes.
lost my tail out of the blue, in a 300+ tempest, by the main guns of a cruiser 8-10k away.
An M8 jumped above and past my Pz as I was reaching the top of a hillside.
vulched 3-plane formations of A6Ms and N1Ks.

Oops forgot about Mandobles undermodeled 190D going 692 MPH and outrunning my 262. He was steering with his trim tabs. Got that one on film as well.

The Groundhog Day bug...
Back in 1999.
A P 51D nearby was trailing black smoke, making a nice long curve from few thousand feet to the ground, where it crashed.
After the crash, it reapeared where I first saw it, again trailing smoke and again crashing at the same place as before.
This kept repeating several times ;).

Saw this when it happened and couldn't believe it. Thought it might be the return of the "Joe vs. Volcano" bug. This is the first sortie this guy took in 190d9 this tour.

Ok, Two of em here. First off this was the funniest thing I have ever seen and I wish I knew how to do Film back then. It was a good six months ago and I was doing a Panzer Run. An Il-2 was strafing me, like they do. I went downhill and halfway down the hill I suddenly took flight at a level plane and kept accellerating. Within about a minute I was outrunning the IL-2. He was commenting on how the hell I could do that. If you were that Il-2 Pilot, let me know please. I hope you have Screen shots of it.
The Second was when I was in a Buffs R Us mission generously put up by FBJoker. There was a P38 that flew through the middle of about 25 B-17 formations that we were flyin. It got shot down, then started back at the head column, and flew through again, and blew up. Then started up again, and one more time. I think I have the film somewhere, Only one other person saw this glitch so I think it was a lag thing on our part mabey. But it was still funny as all hell.

Wierdest thing? Behold the Mark I "Flying Instrument Panel" P-38.
I Had this happen to me in the game few weeks back. Occured by accident while I was . I know for certain glass planes can exist. (No I didn't use it in combat) I fixed the trouble after the screen shots and have not tried to recreate it again.

I thought that was an photoshop job but checked his score and sure nuff looks like it is true. (Yet again reason for a "kill board" showing a list of your x number of recent kills?)
Still this guys rank totally bites even with 1112 kills in fighter he is only fighter ranked 2616 and has a hit percentage of 2.338 %.
I checked a bit further into his stats on http://www.innomi.com/ahkillstats/personalstats.php?sortby=&player=jester66 and he has 1030 kills of Gunner. I thought about it, but I am not sure how you would do this? A second account?

It's a bug.. If you shoot a bomber with a gunner you can sometimes get kills of the gunner that are repeated any number of times, regardless of how much you shot it.. Thought this was fixed..

hmm...I have something weirder than this, I just forget what it is right now..
but as of this moment I would have to say some bugs with gvs and the greece level. There are a few hills at the way bottom of the map, with spawn points right next to them. I did this in offline, but it was pretty funny...there is a bug that makes so its like the hills are not there. When you head for the hill, instead of rolling down it, you keep going straight so therefore you can make your gv fly...almost like an invisible bridge or something. You can drive you flying gv for about 300 feet but at this one point the invisible bridge ends and suddenly you find yourself just tumbling through the air back to the ground. It is pretty funny and easy to repeat...I will get it on film sometime.

Wild wen terrain spawn a m3 out of one of the airfields in the cir dont remember which one. Then drive off the edge of the cliff. You will do a flip and land on your wheels the your able to ride the cliff for a little while before you hit a bump and it launches you for good.
Manning 5inch gun on cv. CV gets sunk I dont realize it cause I am zoomed all the way in. I am still in the gun cv proceeds to close in on shore. All these buff keep upping and flying low straight over the cv on aparent sucide runs. I am racking up the kills and they just keep coming. Finally someone yells at me on channel 1 ask me how I am doing that and I look back the entire fleet is gone. I left the gun then was laughing my arse off.
Gunning for a b17 tail gets shot off with me in it last buff. The pilots bails I try to bail but it wont let me. I think it was mindano. I ended up on the top of the mountian my guns still working. Well to my suprise here comes a mission flying low over the mountain I am stuck on well I just had to open up. ;} You should have seen um scatter when they started taking hits.

Oh ya then in AW I killed the entire Marine Air Wing. I was playing both AW and AH at the time and had forgotten to change my stick mapping. We roll a mission must be 30+ of us. I hit the engine start button and toggle my bombs. Boom you should have seen the kill message scroll. Everyone is back in the tower asking WTF!!!! just happened. I am laughing so hard I cant talk. The old school MAWs still laugh their arses off about that one.

was just thinking last week in Sqd ops. tell my b17 formation about 5 dots at my six but dont have vis on who they are. after a 30 min flight keeping close watch. i decide to clean screen and 4 of the 5 dots went away...lol those dust specs looked like that 1 109 behind me that is twice i got cuaght liek that. i chased a dust spec for 35 mins hdging to our HQ to find out it wasnt a plane but a dust spec... think it is becasue i was really tired and did nto really focus in ...LOL thats my escuse and i am sticking to it

Weird is GTR in an ostwind.
Bomber formation at 8k and he shot down every single one of them. O.o
Weird was spawning in an airfield and seeing a Carrier rolling at you from the other end of the runway.
...hitting a wind layer when at 500mph and being blown almost 10k higher and your speed dropped to 60mph (SEA setting was a bit... too high that day hehe).
...shooting the entire 50 cal ammo of a P-38 at a B17's tail at d200 and having the newbie in the b17 find the tail turret and shoot you down...with the tail turret. (the unkillable tail turret syndrome)
...many patches ago, before the damage model fix, hitting the little stub in the middle of the p-38's tail booms would make the plane explode.

My 2 weird occurances both happened in the TA.
1)Back when you could kill things in the TA, we were having a "mini-newbie war" & Our Cv was killed while protecting the town, it respawned from inside the Mtn near the town, & ack cleared all fighters, the C47, & everything else in sight that was red. Was pretty neat to see the whole TG emerge from Mtn side.
2) Was doin a very low & slow TnB fight in my yak Vs a spit. somehow I managed to bounce my yak inverted on its bubble top. It was on a very small rollin hill, dint kill engine, or damage anything. no film & could never re-produce, not even gonna try lol.

I had infiltrated an nme base with my P4 and was sitting in one of the hangers. A Il-2 has just gotten airborne and I lob an AP round at him and it snaps his left wing right off at the root. He immediately augered into the runway. It was way too cool.

I don't remember who this was but it's someone who has been around and posted a pic and the story about it.
Apparently a couple of squaddies are on a TBM run with additional squaddies as gunners. So the gunner in TBM #1 is chilling as they approach the drop. "No sweat for me", he thinks. "No cons around, I'll just relax for the moment."
Well the pilot of TBM #1 calls to TBM #2 to drop ordance as they are over whatever-the-hell they happened to be bombing.
All of a sudden over vox you hear gunner for TBM #1 start yelling and cussing because the TBM #2 didn't have bombs selected but actually had rockets selected which started firing directly at TBM #1 and it's gunner.
The pic and story is posted somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it and I've already read it. :p And I will admit that I cried from laughing reading it.

When you log into the arena, this happens. Before the other players are updated on your front end, they show up as bish P51s. Country 1, plane 1.... On your screen you should also see friendly AAA shooting at them.

On the small Island map I once saw a Spitfire that was apparently still on auto climb after takeoff approaching the mountainside that was right next to his airfield. As I watched (laughing, thinking he was going to auger into the mountain) the spitfire didnt explode, instead it just kept going like the mountain wasnt there and popped out the other side a few moments later. I shot him on the other side. This happened way to long ago to remember who it was :D

Niki turns 180deg then catchs up on a tempest in a steep dive from 18000 ft.
Chased the same 51D pilot and watched as he dissppeared into the ground 500yds in front of me only to reappear behind me a few seconds later to pop me.
Used 10 rounds from a tiger to destroy a single panzer.
Strange stuff indeed.

Took off in a TBM one night, got situated and set it on auto-climb in the direction of the intended target. Then, got up to go eat dinner. Came back and I was crash landed on the side of a mountain.

Going head to head with an F4U at alt when he pulled up before I did. I saw two small dots comming from him. The F4U had dropped his eggs to engage and blew me out of the sky. Happened quite a while back. Cant remember who it was. Was laughing hard for a while after that one. :lol
