Title: Is it me? Or is gunnery feeling different?
Post by: Kweassa on October 25, 2003, 04:03:00 AM
Tried some target shooting with the drones.

I'm no crack shot - I suck at gunnery. I think my average hit percentage is around 6~8%. But 500 yard shots against a steady moving drone wasn't too difficult, even for me, in AH1. Can't hit jackshi* in MA when enemies are maneuvering, but the drones, I can manage 500~600 yard shots.

Tried the same thing with AH2, and I found it more difficult to do so.. is it placebo? Or does anyone else feel the same way?

same here. even closer in it seems more difficult. i asked if perhaps slipsream was being modeled, but no response...  who knows, maybe it's just an unfinished ballistics model?

Possibly a smaller hit box?

It seems so for me. Ballistics seem the same or very similar.

Maybe there is no "hit box" in AH2?
Like in IL2, where bullets hit the different parts of a plane and not a hit box.
Strange to have your radiator busted from a 6 shot.

I'm with the people who thinks that serious damage and kills out to 1.2 seems dodgy.

But then again, what do I know? ;)

I mean the hit box of the bullet, not the hit box of the target.

I think its just because the drones are moving so much slower than we're used to.

My point remains, just rearrange the words in my post ;)

I found out that with the hizookas gunnery was about as easy as before, but with guns with worse trajectories it was harder to find the mark.

Probably because the tracers are less visible now.

Now if they'd still remove the huge flashes on every hit the gunnery would be closer to what it was in reality. The hit flash gives WAY too much info if you think it's a .50 hitting soft fabric, wood etc. Even from metal the sparks should be visibly smaller.

I only tried the beta for a few minutes, but I found it slightly more difficult. I don't think it's anything too serious, however.
