I'm fed up with B17's and Lancasters being the best CAS planes in the game.
Either Buff bombs are active only after a 3 or 4k free fall or make this big fat a**ed planes WAY MORE vulnerable to ground fire.
It's absolutely irrealistic the way they are used.

yea i agree!
how about adding a simple code to the 88flack
IF target is a big slow plane THEN accuracy of aiming increase by 30%
;)

Actually, 88mm ack had a minimum altitude as well.
I'm reading 'Bomber Command' by.....er.....dunno off hand. Anyway, he mentions that night flying Lancasters would sometimes go in at 7,000ft, high enough to nullify most ground fire and low enough that the 88s weren't that effective.

Why wouldn't a bomber like that be good for CAS? If you want to prevent them from CAS-ing, establish air superiority, or bring some organic AAA (Porkwind).
BTW Johnnie Johnson's "Wing Leader" contains first hand accounts of Lancasters doing CAS with bombs and MG's in Normandy.

Seems gamey. The dive bombing B17s that hold formation are gamey too. Zooming lancs to cover their bare bellies are also gamey especially the formation zooms. More evidence that the majority prefers gamey.

The B17 is without a doubt the most gamey plane in the set.
It's a deathstar (tm) and some people use it for extensively to ackstarr.
I distinctively recall a sortie where I easily blew down 2x262 and a TA152 that simultaneously attacked me at around 30k in MA. That's about as far from reality as it gets - I never even practised the gunning positions.
My hands were literally shaking at the sight of so many perk points, knowing they wouldn't down me unless they got a very lucky long shot with the 30mm. The lazer .50's smoked the others both engines, cut the tail of the other 262 and blew the 152 in pieces before they could land a ping on me.

The two guys mentioned in Wing Leader were certainly the exception, not the rule though Funked1 and the RAF heavies weren't flying daylight stuff til late in 44 when the Luftwaffe was almost non-existant and they had the escort fighters to go with them.

Yep. As if we needed yet more.
