Title: Rubber bullets again???
Post by: bloom25 on February 07, 2000, 11:38:00 PM
First time I've had this happen in a long time now.  I landed over 20+ pings on a spit (from my FE) at 350 away, nothing happened.  Later a 190 flew in front of me at 150, I managed hits all down the top side of his plane, no apparent damage there either.

Anybody else experiencing this tonight?  I just logged, and will relog on later on tonight.  I've heard that this sometimes solves the problem.

I'm not an ace fighter pilot by any means, but these should have been kills IMO.  (No smoke or anything???)

Bloom, it's gotta be your connection, mate. I think that the ammo hitting power is rediculously high in AH so far. Couple of pings...BOOM! I don't see near as many damaged planes limping back home as I do in Warbirds. Too bad, because IMHO bringing a wounded bird back home to a safe landing is one of the most satisfying things to do.

Saw the same thing last night for the first time also bloom. I was flying a nik and got into it with another nik and saw at least a dozen cannon flashes on him and he flew away all parts still attatched, not even any smoke. Got rope a doped into a ho with a f4 got a ton of hits on him, heard none on me and a full 5 seconds later "system you have been killed" oh well win some lose some.

Thanks guys.   Glad it wasn't just me.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)  This is rare for me, but it does happen, last night just seemed especially bad.

Connections have been bad lately, so this may be part of the problem as well.

I have heard as well that you should have v-sync enabled to get rid of packet loss.
Hurts frame rate a little but improves gunnery.
If anyone can tell me otherwise..let me know.

i've been suffering with this for weeks now. I've talked to a number of guys and got a few on film i just cant explain. I know i lit badger up in 109 in a 1-c...hosed him at 400 and hosed him at 200 and augered trying to finish him...but had 15-20 flashs. he did say he was all red and amazed 109 was still up so randomizing may be issue there. Got a clip of a pony run where I fire burst at 400 and get flashes then rake him at 100 or so with no lethal damage...now both were off convergence and I was pecking But...??

On the other hand I was in a 205 and zoomed in a 2 on 2...missed my target pulled up into a enemy 205 that zoomed same group...was 750 out closed to 700 as e state equalized..was slightly under in blind spot. I've got my 20's set to 300 and my 12.7mm set to 650 for sniping...was hoping to ping him from blind spot and get a relfex break turn to bring 20mm in play...and he blew up on 1st ping  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)...maybe it all evens out  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I had the exact opposite of rubber bullets happen last night.  I spotted a p51 under me by about 10k when flying in the c205.  I immediately went into a nose low turn to get on his 6.  At 400 he saw me and began to jink, but it was too late, I had landed a single hit with my 20mm that took off his stab, and both elevators.  Not long after it looked like both his wings came off as well.  I was, of course, happy to win the fight, but absolutely dreading the possibility of 1 ping kills on me.

When I reported the rudder bullets problem, I couldn't have shot anything down with 1000 rds.  I wish I would have filmed a fight with a 190 that night.  He flew right in front of me, at 150 yds away, and I ran 20 mm from his nose to his tail, including about 4 hits directly on his canopy.  He took ABSOLUTELY no damage that I could see.

I guess HTC made up for a night of rubber bullets, by giving me a night of depleted uranium bullets.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I Did promise myself that I will tell this, if I see once again talking about rubber bullets...

When you talk about rubber bullets in AH, you should try Delta Force 2 or similar  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I Have been chasing straight running guy there with M249 SAW, M40 (sniper), MP5, for few seconds with gun blazing, but guy doesnt die, but turns around about 4-10 seconds later and shoots hell outta me  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

So.. I wouldn't say anything about rubber bullets in AH  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

(oh poor me... just wait me till I get rid of this 33.6k and have cable modem or ADSL, if cabel modem never comes, no more rubber bullets in any game)

I believe you Fishu.  I'm sure there are games that are plagued by rubber bullet problems.  Rubber bullets are rare for me, but I do have a fast network connection (100BaseT), and they still happen.
(My guess is that they have something to do with the recent Internet attacks and resulting poor connects.)

They come and they go. The solotion is easy, it seems to me. Shorter range, and increased bullit radius.

So far I have talked to at least 2 people who have fixed the "rubber bullets" problem by turning V-Synch back on for their video cards.

If any of you have turned V-Synch off to try to get max frame rates from games, you must re-enable it.  I believe V-Synch must be on for the hit-detection routines in the FE to work properly.

What guns were you using?  20 hits by a machine gun was survivable for WW2 aircraft, even 20 hits from a 20mm cannon was survivable in some cases.

Also remember that 350 yds for a cannon is not exactly short range!

I would much rather see this problem addressed. Then see new trucks introduced, or even planes.

Roger that TT, doesn't happen often, but when it does.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/mad.gif)  It ruins the whole night for you.  I must say though, tonight was good for me.  Plenty of kills and great battles between the numerically superior rooks and the knights.  I give a big to the rooks.
