Title: Mission request for film material..
Post by: Strip on April 13, 2008, 12:10:01 AM
I have been wanting to do a night time bombing run under a full moon. Its hard to keep many pilots doing formation flying for hours so I was hoping some kind folks in here might be able to help out. Not only that its night so I will have to play with the settings to find a realistic setting that still lets you see. The film is going to be based on a bomb run involving 90 Lancasters and 14 Mossies over a German ball bearing factory. I only have a few requirements the rest can be fudged.

3-4 sets of Lancaster formations flown in a single file  ( something like this  < < <  however any formation will work I guess) at 8,000 feet at normal power.

1 Mossie escort above the formation

2 110s (1 player controlled and 1 AI) attacking from the front from a few thousand feet above the lancs

Use a terrain with clear weather and hopefully stars.

Other than this I dont really mind if shortcuts are used. The bombers dont have to hit anything in particular as long as there over land. If possible I would like the buffs to come under ack fire however at some point. If it is just as easy you could double or triple each number but I have heard there were problems with this. In the end if its easy just to change a setting maybe missions with the player in the mossie and a lanc. Something like this could save me so much grief so if your feeling particularly kind I would be in your debt.   If there are any other questionable areas let me know and I will answer you shortly.

Thanks,
Strip

Stip,

I'm all ready working on this!  :lol I'll post it as soon as it's done. Using the Rhine Winter terrain and it looks great when you set the arena time to 0100.

Strip,
I'm still working on it. there are some issues with the ME that I'm trying to work around. If you can handle a few bugs I can send what I have but the second German 110 will not work properly.

Thanks,
Baumer

I cant check it if I wanted to.....running 1024 res pack tho. Maybe I will disable that and try it.

Edit: Still no dice with the 512....I will try 256 but doubt it will work.

Strip,

Here it is-
http://332nd.org/dogs/baumer/strip.zip (http://332nd.org/dogs/baumer/strip.zip)

Make sure to select the bob04 terrain. It looks really good if you set the arena time to something like 01:00 and turn off the icons.

Thanks to dkff figuring out the problem.

Baumer, what you gave me is perfect! My computer on the other hand......

The mission runs fine right up until enemy contact on both Axis or Allied. When the planes get within about 3k my computer gives me an error message and shuts AH2 down. I fully suspect that its game/hardware related. Prior to this both sides fly almost perfectly and it acts like the offline bug thats in the present version. You have played with the mission editor more than just about anyone so I thought I would run it by you. Any ideas?

Its a shot in the dark but maybe someone has seen this issue before?
I am running AH 2.12 Patch 2 so that might be the issue but I didnt see any changes made to the Mission section.

So if you fly in the mossie, and get in front of the lancasters, as soon as you close on the 110's it crashes?

Have you downloaded the new mission editor (0.80 patch1)?

Make sure to have all the arena settings at default (you can change time of day).

I'll reload it and fly some more to see if there's an issue. can't think of anything else.

Same thing if I am flying the 110.

Yes tho I am running  AH2.12 Patch 2

Make sure to have all the arena settings at default (you can change time of day).

Other than time of day the only thing I have played around with is sky colors.

I'll reload it and fly some more to see if there's an issue. can't think of anything else.

I think its game related issues most likely compounded by Vista. The easiest thing to do is to wait patiently for the upcoming patch I am afraid. Would be very suprized at this point to see anything with the mission itself causing this.

Thanks,
