Only complaint is how the eng start sound just cuts off into the actual running engine sound. A fade would be a good transition.

I'm having trouble with the German and Russian sets. Although I suspect its a mediafire issue. I click the "click here to start download" and it's almost as if I clicked the refresh button. Nothing happens. Anyone else having this trouble?

I didn't have any trouble at all, and I'm computer illiterate! I'm guessing it is as you said, a Mediafire problem.

I've downloaded the sound files to my sounds folder, in the HTC program file. How do I now get these sounds to function? Im still hearing the old sounds, and when I attemt to remove the old sound file, everything is SILENT! So I put the old file back into the folder. Old sounds are better than no sounds! Someone help an ignorant ole man out!

and ull see a tab at top that says "extract files" click it then select the place you want to extract it to

then extract the next set until entire sound pack is extracted

First click start button then run type "dxdiag"
let it run then save it email to skuzzy if your having problems skuzzy is very busy but will help you as much as he can in a timely fashion.
second goto the help forum read all the stickied performance tip threads.
Third click start run then type services.msc and run it.U`ll get the program started use this link to see all the services runnin in the background on your pc. A healthy xp system should only have about 16 to 20 processes running. heres the link with services u can saftley disable BLACK VIPERS LIST (http://74.125.113.104/search?q=cache:J1j6Tz0SYS4J:www.hostblock.org/files/BlackviperXPSP2.pdf+blackviper&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us)
Forth thing u can do is and hardware/programs u have install disable them from runnin constantly at start up and during regular operation as they will consume alot of needed resources that aceshigh will need to run at its best.
fith thing is open ur browser at the top click tools/internetoptions/generaloption and click the delete files and cookies tab as when this is full it consumes memory
also DeFrag ur hard drives once a month and after every game upgrade
alot of things to do but the payoff will be worth it as far as gameplay goes......................... ..TB

After that it goes back to 'Click to start download', but no download.
I'm using Getright download manager. I've tried to resume my download from there, but that doesn't work.
I don't fly that many Japanese planes so I didn't to start a new post for this.
I think the problem is on my side, or perhaps Mediafire, but your sounds rock.

The only way I could fix it was to clear out my history and temp. internet files, and then try again. Once I did this, they all worked perfectly.

I added the sounds packs to aceshighmovies.com. For convenience, I changed the .rar files to .zip files (for those of you who aren't too computer savy) and I also created a separate download of all the packs in one ZIP. You can also download each individual pack as well yet.

I've used many soundpacks, I always just change the folder to sounds....so what do I do with a bunch of different ones, do I have to manually move every sound to one folder?

Twinboom. after finally getting around to doing some soundpack changes I downloaded your GV sounds and they are very good. :aok I'd highly recommend them as they add a lot to the game.
Haven't had a chance to mess with the other ones yet....

Downloaded last night, had debated on doing, has like others I have lost my computing skills over the years ... and didnt feeln like fubar'n the computer. DL'n the zip file from Fulmars website helped make the decision easier... ty Fulmar for the zip access <S>
Took me a little fooling around to get to work, had to copy the individual plane files out the coutry files and place directly into the sound folder was all. Spent about another hour listening to new sounds. Really does bring another level to the game.

IIRC there are no bomb bay door sounds modeled in the game therefore there is nothing to modify.

Great soundpack as I posted before, I just have one problem with it - the 262s high pitch whistling is almost painful to the ears, I have to turn sound down so low I cant hear vox properly. Its only 1 or 2 sorties a tour for me so no biggie :)

after the file is finished downloading it has me open it in Media Center and i cnt find them in there. so i tryed putting them in my aces high program file folder. but it still wont let me open them... any suggestions? i downloaded the RangerT sound pack just fine. and i downloaded this pack the same way but isnt working.

Skuzzy clearly said it wasn't stickied because he was done stckying sounds threads due to the amounts of problems the sounds themselves were causing (yeah....I know...). But, what I don't get is if that's the case why aren't all the sound packs un-stickied?
TB, we've discussed this before but I can't find the conversation. Again, great sound! I think I use your 38 sounds...I cant remember since I havent flown in 2 months

TB, wtg on the sticky! I have one suggestion for your soundpack. It would be great if you could create a new file, one great big file, with all the sounds included for one download. That would simplify things, and make the process a bit quicker.

for sounds is growing.I will continue to comb the net searching for better files . Its another hobby of mine.
There are no gamey sounds in this pack as i believe in immersion and realism. So without futher hesitation here is the changes. Lastly enjoy the sounds as your enjoyment is why I do this...............TB

This is an easy fix guys no need to post a dl link yet
Create a separate folder within your sounds folder name it "P47M"
Then copy and paste your P47N sounds into the M folder
Lastly enjoy the ride the M is a freeking beast!

Hello all, I'm having difficulty. If you wouldn't mind, perhaps you have an idea of what I'm doing wrong.
Went into C/Aces High/ and deleted the "sounds" folder.
Downloaded TBs 2010 packs to my desk top.
Downloaded the win-RAR prog.
Created a new folder in C/Aces High and named it "packs".
Extracted the 8 sound packs from TBs first post in this thread from desktop into the "packs" folder.
They are all there and functioning. If I double click on any of them I can even hear them play.
Every time I open the game (been trying off-line) I hear the old standard issue sounds. I close Aces High and go into C/Aces High and the "sounds" folder has magically returned.
I even deleted it three times after trying the off line mode including deleting it out of the recycle bin and restarting the computer.
The damned "sounds" folder just keeps coming back by itself!
Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.

You should of over write the new sounds into the sound folder. You don't delete the sound folder. The game doesn't see or use the sounds from your packs folder. Just install the new sounds into the sound folder, let it overwrite the sounds, and it should work for you.

Yeah I like it. I brought an LA-7 to almost 500 mph in a dive after a P-47 and the wind/structural sounds were just awsome. Wow! Im glad I spent a few bucks on good ears and installed this sound pack. 1st class job Twin. :salute

Yes, unzip to the sound folder and you should be all set.

Hi all I put the new Daimler Benz Eng And Startup files in the 109`s 110`s ki61 and c202/05`s
and added a finnish folder for brewster also put I16 in the russian folder original links wont work as i had to reupload them

i use winzip to load my files.so how would i download your file to my aces high sound files using winzip.because i tried all ready and it say does not support this type of file.will not work. thank grneagle.

i use winzip to load my files.so how would i download your file to my aces high sound files using winzip.because i tried all ready and it say does not support this type of file.will not work. thank grneagle.

Ranger, TB, I was under the impression that because of the Miles Sound System, we could't use custom sounds. Did I miss something? Was there a secret squirrel meeting that I forgot to attend? We still can use new sounds? Any info would be great.

The custom sound packs can and always could be used even after the miles system. Us custom sound pack creators just refused to modify anything until they worked the bugs out of the miles system so we didn't create more work for ourselves then was necessary.

i just downloaded tb's sounds last night. i did as skuzzy said, and DID NOT TOUCH THE "SOUND.RES" FILE.
i unzipped them, and put them in the sounds folder, and went online, and enjoyed the music of twin allisons as shuffler shot me down. :D

reworked 51 engs
new 190a eng sound
new ki84 and n1k eng sounds
Converted every sound file to stereo and re-edited everything
Also new Mossy is added in the British pack

Usranger speaking for myself it's a big change.. when using external speakers the Z-5500 series from Logitech I find there that extra punch in the sounds, canons , stress and the external engines are more easy to differentiate from type of plane. I'm using on board sound card and tried all morning and had no issues at all with AH...Again TwinBooms good job.. :salute Canukk

i just tried again.....and it's actually causing the window to minimize when i click the download link. i'll try that one from home. medafire often gives me problems at home, which is why i tried it from here.

I had no trouble getting all of them. American file is huge, maybe it just taking longer than you though.
btw Twin they sound GREAT !! I use to keep one ear phone on my head to keep an ear out for "wife ack", but not any more! Stereo is awesome !

have the mono sounds been updated with all the aircraft (eg. B mossie)?
I tried the stereo sounds and ... I'm not convinced. upped my faithful D25 and it sounds like a twin - 2 different sounds which appear L and R in the soundfield, rather than placed centrally.
surely since the sounds are located in the 3D space by the game they should be mono (sounds emanate from a single point in space) and DirectSound should place them in the soundfield as appropriate for the output device (eg. stereo headphones for me)?

Just the other day I had a gear shot out in a fight. Was coming in to land, put the gear down forgetting I had had it shot out, and I could hear that only one side went down. That was awesome! I could clearly hear that only one side was extending. With the 5.1 headset the stereo sounds are great.

thats not the effect of stereo sounds you were hearing though - that is having 2 separate point sources for the gear sounds. you should hear the same effect with mono sounds.

I agree with you, but I'd done that many many times with mono sounds and never noticed it like that before. I just put them in the day before, and there is a noticeable difference. The stereo are a lot better.

I was just a bit confused as why the game reads stereo sounds at all, since they dont make any sense in the game's 3d soundscape. It would be nice if HT implemented the 3d engine sounds properly (just for the aircraft you are in), as it is they currently come from the pilot not from the engine/s.

I've been using your pack since around 2008 Twinboom, and I decided it's time for me to update considering the new vehicles and miles sound system came into play. I tried downloading each pack individually from your latest link (page 11) but I find myself unable to download the British, German, and GV packs from mediafire.
It will take a minute or two to finish the 'processing your download' stage, automatically refreshing the page two or three times. Once the download is 'processed', I will click to download, and alas, I'm immediately sent to the error page stating 'the connection was reset', giving me this :
"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
Maybe it's mediafire, maybe it's me. I've tried at diferrent times of day to see if it would help (evening, night, late at night, I should really go to bed late at night, even later at night, the sun is rising must be bedtime, around midday, afternoon, and back to where I started yesterday) It would seem time doesn't affect anything but my level of patience :D
Am I doing something wrong?

As of today I am still unable to obtain the British sounds. As for the rest of the pack... :eek:
Loving them. The new stereo effects are subtle, but definitely there. I like them very much. The sounds from your previous pack I had, they're in essence the same (obviously, same aircraft = same noise, right?), but at the same time they're beefed up. I like what you've done with the place, TB! Flying feels so much more satisfying now :D
My one observation, if I may.. I believe the tread-loop of the M4(76) has this odd little sound that repeats in my right ear. It's very quiet and easily ignorable, but it's still there. Sounds a little like the volume is a bit off, when the sound repeats it's as if the volume is a bit higher and it can be heard repeating within the loop itself.
I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but it's so subtle I doubt it'll make a difference for anybody else. I absolutely love the new & improved soundpack TwinBoom, keep up the great work :cheers:

I got the American, British and General sounds OK but the rest gave me a invalid or deleted error. I used the link provided by The Fugitive up post and got the rest OK. Now I just have to fire up AH and make sure everything works.

the titles in the gv folders are pretty self explanatory

Mainly the panzer, I was a little intimidated by the fact that there are 7 explosion sounds.
What I am trying to do is edit the explosion sounds in each GV so that I can tell what is shooting at me, and what it is shooting before I even see it. I tried a little on my own before I downloaded your sound pack and made a little progress but you seem to have it all figured out.

You would want to change the tank gun. I used all the sound packs and hand picked them and made each tank gun sound different works great.

Hey Twin. I got a funny quirk with the Tank Gun GV sounds. The main gun sound is different for each tank, however whatever tank I am driving all tank main guns sound like mine. If I am in a Sherman all tank guns, no matter what tank others are in, sound like a Sherman. I think the tread sounds are OK and I have no sound issues with the planes. I didn't use to have this problem and I don't know what changed to cause it. I have done a clean install of AH, reloaded the sounds, but still have the tank gun issue. I was wondering if you have run into this before or might have any ideas. I enjoy your sounds thanks for the effort.

The sound files available to play are limited to 1 in the gvs IE: the issue ur having i have same issue.
I have talked with pyro about this and he says "Its something he can look into" ie: adding more playable file sounds.
I`ll give you another one with my new gv pack the panzr4f has 2 separate guns short and long which entirely sound different, so for now u will just hear long gun for both sorry for this but its beyond my control. HTC is working on the sound system and with the new additions its something they will have to work on on top of the already long list of work :) so hang in there but ur sounds are fine TB

Finally got around to swapping out the GV sounds .
That rocket sound for the M4 is LOUD, but looking at old videos of them being launched I'd say with that much recoil

the trouble with explosion sounds is they are associated by several different things in the game
ie: if i change explosion to make it for planes tham the ship gv or gun will use it too

I thought this through a bit and the sound I'm referring to is the sound a rocket makes when it hits the ground and not a destroyable object. AFAIK that sound it is only used for rockets impacting the ground, isn't it? Seems to me that a rocket warhead would still make quite a bang on it's own.
it's not really a big deal, always looking for a little more realism.

This is pretty small compared to other sound packs, here's a list in size of the soundpacks:
Twinboom: 132mb
TicTok: 101mb
Butcher: 80mb
Fruda: 46mb
Mitsu: 37.5mb
Some reason I am missing the others like Ranger, but the picture is if you want a dedicated sound pack, its going to be larger.

I'm wondering if you have any variations of the 50 and 30 cal machine guns Twinboom?
I notice most of the soundpacks have the same exactly gun sounds, i tried to mash some realistic 50 cal sounds, however it doesn't come out in good all to well.

the consistency is one reason I like and use this soundpack - tried others before and I found it really distracting when the same gun sounds different in different aircraft. ymmv :)

Stereo is better testers have told me mono is a single channel as apposed to 2 i stereo
try stereo if u like it run it if not get the mono some systems windows 7 with onboard sound chip have reported some issue's

I want to give the sound packs a go. Will these sound packs use more CPU and reduce frame rates? Everyone seems to enjoy them.

All your doing is adding files to the sound folder. Try them out. If you notice FR problems, remove them from the Sounds folder. :aok

First let me say, I enjoyed the new sounds very much having installed already installed the American and British sound pack. Got to love the P38 sounds.
Now I have a question on installation of the General Sound pack. The files in the general sound package are older by date than the original HT in the HT sound folder or did the general sound pack come with the American sound pack. Normally I would not replace a newer file with an older file. Did I goof up here?

I believe that the "general" sounds came with the custom pack you installed. HTC's sounds are embedded in the game so on a fresh install there is nothing in the sounds folder. Anything that is there after the install is from the custom pack.
I'm sure Twin would answer you here, but I think he is on vacation at the moment. <cough><cough>

Got it thanks. Installed the sounds and got them to work, then realized it really is stereo. I have 5.1 on my computer. So I put the old files back and realized those seem to only be stereo too. I never realized that. Does this game not support 5.1?

It had been a few years since the last time I had used Mediafire OR WinRAR. It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but it's pretty easy. Although, I never could figure out how to get the sounds that weren't a Zipped file into my sounds folder.

Hey TwinBoom, I tried downloading the rar files, I get as far as the password screen. I enter the password, the screen refreshes and nothing happens. I was hoping you had an idea as to what might be wrong so I can fix it, I wanna hear these sounds :)

try again its a free site so popup adds are overwhelming sometimes

Apologies TB. But I think I need to download all files again to do a full reinstall. Do I just drop the sohnds into the sou ds folder and it overwrites existing named ones? I ask because I think the last time I did this it was just one folder and now it appears to be several. And also may I ask as well for the passworx in order to do all this. :aok

Wow surprised Skuzzy lets you post ads. All I get is a lot of ads and asking me to sign up. Guess I can no longer use your sounds. Always liked them.

With such a big file free hosting is the way. I make nothing from these sounds so I'm not paying for a sever. Just x out the sign up gimmick and ignore the ads..simple. People been using this sever to dl my sound pack for years over a 1000 per pack. Several people use mediafire hosting for pictures and various files here. Just saying. Nothing is truly free so relax and ignore the ads.
