I hope so. It will be fun to start over.

Going for different plane achievements is about the only thing that keeps me in the same plane type for more than a few sorties.

Adding more or expanded achievements would be better than starting over.

I doubt that very much :)

Unlike the score thing which resets every tour, a lot of achievements need a tremendous time investment. Taking them away from players who had spend 2 years on them might be unpopular to some to the point of quitting the account.

I can see the snail quiting if you have to start over. Guy tends to use that phrase at times when discussing problems with the game like it will pull some weight. Maybe it will maybe it won't I don't care. The way it's setup in the game I'll bet it's archived and will be transferred.

The snail has himself reset all his achievements and his three pretty sparkling stars before by terminating and creating a new account. So it's quite safe to say he doesn't care much about it.
