Title: Add a Slider for Airplane Sound
Post by: Mano on September 13, 2016, 01:06:35 PM
Would it be possible to add a slider for the airplane sounds this late in the development of AH3? We could
turn down the airplane engine sounds as an option. The airplane engine sound is allot louder than the GV engine
sound.

When you are in a GV with the engine off and there is an airplane overhead, even at 1.5k or more, the sound is so loud
that you cannot hear anything else. Airplanes in RL are loud, but they are only loud close up. When there is an
airplane overhead an enemy GV can drive right up to you because you cannot hear it coming.

There is one for engine sounds.  I do see where it would benefit to turn only plane sounds down, if you were in a GV.  I intentionally fly nearby enemy tanks when I have a friendly approaching them to help hide their approach.

Exactly.

I upped a storch the other day.......and stayed overhead of the GV until tyfoo drove up and blasted him.   :D :D

The planes are soooooooooooo loud you cannot hear anything else. If you turn down "other engines"
then you cannot hear GV's. It is a Catch 22.

Mano this will probably end up on wish list forum.

but I would like to expand on your request---would rather have sliders for all sounds instead of grouping them into  well groups.

but Mano  if you can turn down external plane sounds--it will make it easier for an enemy plane to sneak up on you

Noise levels in combat tanks of WW2 were consistently above 70 decibels and when the gun fired even higher, but aircraft cockpits were easily in the 120-140 range (the 262 being 140 easily). You should have experienced in real life where a low flying aircraft can easily cover the noise of a tank, and even high flying aircraft are noisy. In AH you can't hear airplanes at high altitude, so you can be thankful while I wish we could.

I have been around airplanes, they are loud. The default for external engines is 80, so I will set mine at 50 and deal with the GV's by sight.

The loud airplane engines are a bother, but if you turn other engines down you can still hear their track clearly. Does not help if they are sitting at idle, but you can, at least hear them move.
It seams there is still a lot of room for improvement in the sound part of this game period. It is kind if hard to tell direction also and the delay of the explosions also seem a bit lone.
Over all, though, when done, I think this game will be pretty sweet.

I think that's a glitch--if you can hear tracks then you should be able to hear engine----tank can't move unless engine is running
