Just passing on a bit of news on something to keep an eye on.
Google's developed a mobile VR headset (untethered, 6dof, inside-out head-tracking) with other partners, which is based on its Daydream OS. In conjunction with this, Google announced a possibly game-changing VR rendering technique, called Seurat. (https://www.engadget.com/2017/05/18/google-seurat-vr/). And here's also a bit about it from TechCrunch (https://techcrunch.com/2017/05/18/googles-seurat-for-mobile-vr-means-you-can-finally-truly-step-into-star-wars/). Don't know yet if it will translate to PCs but if it does it could be a big help for game devs.
FWIW,

Not really much, Daydream has been on the cards for ages. You're still driving it with an Android device - so it lacks the horsepower to compete with a dedicated PC CPU/GPU combo.
Things to be watching out for are lightfield based headsets. That will the next big shiznit that rocks the VR/AR boat - Magic Leap and someone else are working on them.
