Title: Hourglass stutter
Post by: fd ski on October 07, 2019, 03:38:12 AM
When coming into range of about 1k of some cons i get this split second hourglass stutter in Oculus Rift CV1.
It isn't a problem in most cases, but when flying 262 it wrecks entire fun solution.

Anyone else had it ? Any fixes ?

Thanks,

It always happens at the worse time. Since the last big windows update it seems to have got worse or at least more frequent. I get it a lot when changing views with the hat switch.
Cmex was flying next to me one night when it happened and said he saw me warp really bad.

I have the Vive Pro.
I get grey-outs occasionally that last for a second or two.
Seems to happen more when there are lots of players on.
I think it is my graphics card taking a deep breath.

it doesn't seem to be related to number of cons in my case. Last night i was 1 262 vs 1 set of bombers. Generally it almost always happens in bombers when i think about it...

Do you have the VR auto swap disabled? I generally just see the hourglass when it's enabled.

I have it disabled. I'm pretty sure it's a dx11 issue.

Yes, same with me RiftS. Since last Windows Update, it has returned with a vengeance

Is that option in the oculus software?

No. It's an AH option. I believe in options/preferences/VR

Make sure your usb root hubs are at maximum power and not energy saving. Made a huge difference for me. And yes after updates they will revert back to energy savings.

Not sure if it's similar but I'll randomly have my Odyssey VR headset jump to the WMR environment and then go back to AH. Often at inopportune times but no idea why its happening.

I had this happen last evening, well close..meaning I think this is what you mean....The Rifts has some issues with hand Controller batteries and loosing "play area" settings. In middle of carrier landing>>>>>To Rift White Screen---you right touch control battery is low. Not very long after I had an hour glass stutter and screen ficked to RIFT HOME and back to game, was 2 seconds or so :headscratch:

I actually never setup the controllers on my headset so not sure if it could at all be related to that. Strange
