Title: another subscribing player lost
Post by: hazmatt on June 17, 2020, 08:59:59 PM
I'm sure there's a line of people who will want to attack me. Go ahead as I'm not a millennial  and I don't care lol. I just thought it was interesting as to how much Dale is interested in retaining subscribers. Seems he has more important things to do. I'm only saying this because there are many people like me who are interested in growing this game but if the guy at the top doesn't give a shid then we who are trying to grow the game are all wasting our time. So please attack me and drive the numbers even lower.

Here's the email exchange.

Hi Dale,
I thought that we had 30 days to re-sup but when I went to update my
account it looks like it got wiped.
May callsign is HazMatt. Please let me know if I have any options here.
Thanks,
Matt

I don't find an account with that call sign.
You can make another account, and get the call sign back.
HiTech
I assume you used t

I think the account was deleted in the last 30 days. I was more
worried about saving my perk points then keeping the callsign. Guess
I'm just not motivated to farm perks at the moment. Could you please
check HazMatt or HazMat or something to that effect that was deleted
in the last month?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Not sure if it helps but I can type HazMatt into the scoring system
and it comes up:

Guess you're not interested in my sub. It's all good. WW2 online still
has planes to fly for $9 per month. Guess I'm gonna sub there since my
sub isn't important enough for you to research and fix here :)

Since you expect to feel heat over airing your dirty laundry in public then you must know that deep down this thread was uncalled for. That's OK, though. I suspect it has really short legs. See you when you eventually return.

Pretty sure accounts are linked to email addresses as opposed to call signs
and if you have been around for a bit then it comes down to what you first used... perhaps check your settings folder and see what your login details are...
I know for my old account I have my original name I started with..(not knowing It would be my ruling name for logging in) associated with it... but the new one I made for during lock down is associated with the email I signed up with

He said you can resubscribe and he’d give you your old call sign.

What more do you expect?

Is this about perkies?  You knew those would be gone. That’s always been the way it works. It’s an incentive to keep our accounts current.

This is a toejam thread

Dale helped me when I had some account problems within hours. Use your billing email or other identification details other than an ingame name you can change at whim

Look in your settings folder for the text file "login.cfg". It has your login name/ID.

Oh, and don't be a toot. lol

I thought it used to be that you had 30 days or something to bring the account back. I guess I find it hard to believe that something that was active a few days ago is not gone from the face of the earth.

It was a couple days after the sub ended that tried to get back on. I guess it's not worth the going on about at this point...

I would just delete this as I can tell it's going to end up going somewhere that I didn't intend but I don't see any option to so let it run

Then call Dale and have a conversation with him, instead of airing your problem here.  He’s the one that can fix your problem.  Sounds more like a need to whine about not getting your way.

Exactly.... hence my post above. Step back, calm down, handle it like an adult should. Always remember, they are a small company. While they always would love to help you, sometimes you have to do some of the work yourself.

You always struck me as better than that.... so I thought you might just need a knock on the noggin.  :D

It is funny. We all complain about low numbers and we need to get newbies in. They come in and read posts like this. Then they promptly leave with a never to return attitude.

Call Dale or Email him. Leave the bashing off the forums so we can get newbies to play!
It's really simple if you think about it !

And now the rest of this mornings story. This was my response to him before reading the board this morning. After a  2 new emails from him, one threatening to go do a different game.

Quote
Good morning,

I found an account that was deleted May 13 Reference account id HD13F which had the game id HazMatt

Once an account is closed the perk points are removed.

HiTech

I sorta hope he doesn't come back now.

Because 1 he has posted private email correspondence in an attempt to disparage HTC.

2nd he  thinks he knows what my motivations are by claiming so in an email.

And finally in his first email that I responded to he did not even state his concern was getting his perks back. And we never had any policy about getting game ids back for a period of time after account deletion.

Yeah, this board's community doesn't really lean toward sympathizing with people playing "make me stay" games.  Oh well.  See you when you return.  Or not.

It is funny. We all complain about low numbers and we need to get newbies in. They come in and read posts like this. Then they promptly leave with a never to return attitude.

Meh, it could happen.  If memory serves there's only about 5% of the players that actually come to the forum so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

People are used to treating game companies like garbage on their forums.  The proper reaction to that on all sides is subjective.

I'll settle for an autographed picture of shuffler!

Wow, you should've been WAY more specific with that.  The horrors my mind is conjuring of such an open-ended request are staggering.

Wiley.

I looked at his account some more.

His bill date is the 5th of the month. If you delete you can continue to play until the next billing cycle. And can undelete any time up until then. He deleted on the May 13 and had played on the morning of June 5. His account was closed when billing ran at 10:00 Central on June 5.

I  agree with others here that posting private emails is a bad idea, but I'm also glad to see that the community here didn't jump down Hazmat's throat too much.  That and HT handling this by posting his view about it (I'm a big fan of this, not sure why, but I much prefer it to the zipped lip deal from game devs) and not raking him over the coals too badly either.

I really hope you keep flying AH3 Hazmat, I'm going to resub today or tomorrow for Friday night's fun and games myself after a year of so +.

I also like how HT communicates about stuff like that.  He gets a little pointed sometimes but I'd so much rather see a genuine reaction rather than boilerplate "Your concerns are important to us..." blahblah.

On the 2 occasions that I had an issue... both times my fault, received updated card, I was able to rectify the situation quick and painless.

Only other issue is when they were passing out looks... I thought they said hooks and said I didn't need any. That was not their fault either.

It is rather silly to wipe someone's account if they didnt pay for a month.  A couple hundred kilobytes is nothing with our player base, but it can discourage people to come back if they cant have their name or perks back.  I've lost count of how all my handles because I take mini breaks over the past 24 years.  It would be nice to be known by one name though.

Players can have their name back (though I am fine with the slight changes I've made). I could have called Dale and I'd be flying as 'Arlo' now. Perks gotta be maintained in an active account or they expire. Most players know that (and all should). It really is incentive to keep your account active. A player stomping feet or having a public pity party because they let their own perks expire (purposefully or not) is rather distasteful to watch.

I cancelled my account two months ago, but unfortunately I didn't catch that it was still being billed until the 2nd charge.  Put in a refund request on the day it was charged but that went ignored.  After going through records and seeing the thousand dollars spent on the game I think I need to find me a one time purchase game to hold me over.

Advice on a game if you know of any.  I've looked into IL-2 but there are so many versions I dont know which one is the one to get.
I dont mind stirring as well though, it would be nice if AH changed with the times and went away from the $15/month, it can't cost that much to maintain the 286 cpu running the game.  I've tried to bring so many people to this game, who ultimately enjoy it, but are extremely put off by monthly fees.  The same people spend more money playing free games like War Thunder and World of Tanks/Warhips, etc.

Not much you can do for as little as AH cost. Of course some folks just sit at home... those will definitely think it is a huge amount. You can bet though... if they do anything at all... they want to be paid for it.

I don't know of any game of this genre that plays as well as AH. You, yourself, say its cheaper than FTP for most players that devote their time and expense there. Seems a shame you think losing perks due to non-maintenance of your account warrants coming here to ask for alternative games from members of this long-time community.

Good luck. Here's to your journey leading back here with some valuable new insight.

"Changing with the times" means finding folks who think something is free because you put free in the name or description... regardless of how much they have to pay for every little thing they want to use in the game.

Not in this genre...but I got into Lord of the Rings online for quite some time, it lost it’s appeal after tons of developing my characters there. I’ve also spent some time in Life is Feudal, but your toon quickly starts to starve there and it’s really hard to find any help. YMMV

Aye. I was upset no doubt when I posted that. I'm sure that you have never been upset about something that you couldn't figure out a way to fix yourself.

It's all good. It's obvious you don't want my money so I did end up subscribing to WWII online. It's not perfect but they do seem to appreciate people who subscribe even if they have problems with the "management"

Last time I left many years ago you could "resub" within 30 days, I think it was, and keep your account active. You added all this stuff such as achievements to keep people from canceling their accounts. Fair enough. I was not aware of the extent that you had gone to to punish people for canceling their subscriptions.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that this has ever happened too. I'd guess most kept it to themselves and just went away.

P.S. To all of you guys who are hostile to me:

For the most part it seems that you are the same people who are hostile to new players in the game and and are helping to drive them away.
If you keep it  up, you will end up playing with yourselves...

I'm sure I will get attacked for my comments because that's what this game has turned into today and the forums as well.

Wish you all the best <S>

i quit for a couple of months back in february. when you delete your account it tells you exactly when is the last day you can resub without losing perks and achievements.

if i remember correctly before you would get a warning that if you went ahead, your subscription would be deleted that same day.

I'm back now and have to earn perks and achievements. then again i really didn't care about them before. as that's not really why i play the game.

I haven't had the time to read through all the posts as I have a lot on my plate at the moment and have been busy.

I'd like to apologize to HighTech and anyone else who got drug into this.

I handled this poorly. and I should have just taken a break and exited gracefully.

Wish all of you the best and thanks for many years of fun going all the back to AW dos days.

Salute!

Well said!  All the best to you too.   :salute
