Oh no!

diddly.

Poor guy. He had just retired and was beginning to work on his master's degree in history. This is horrible. I had a lot of good times flying with him and chatting on vox. We were in the Elite Top Aces + One Mexican squad and he was the Mexican. lol. He insisted on that.

He was like an AH historian. He had an amazing memory and sense of humor for the events and characters in this game. He has recently been messaged me about models.

This is a shock to me. I really liked him.

Condolences to his family and friends.

So sad.  Ack-ack was a central figure in the Bigweek news group, not to mention being AH's master 38 driver.  He helped a lot of people with their CH equipment, and had superior insight into all things related to online gaming and online people.

I suppose we'll be getting more and more bad news like this, but I don't think we'll ever get used to it.

I'd known Ack-Ack since AW days and while we didn't always see eye to eye I don't think we every truly got angry with each other. On Flamewarriors I'd quote him and then replace what he said with a .gif, I only hope he saw the humor in what I was doing and didn't get angry.

My family and I send our condolences Zmy.

No words... ack-ack is a name I've seen for the better part of 15 years.
I have fond memories of going down in a bright ball of fire and twisted metal from the guns on his P38. If there was ever a man to truly master his craft there could be no argument from anyone here who that was, his skill in the 38 some may consider divine.

I'm sure he's up there schooling everyone on history
Fair skies and tail winds my friend  :salute

Dammit all.... this one cuts deep

Ack-Ack was the first person I ever spoke to over the phone back in the mid 90s when we were playing AirWarrior and I needed help on my ch controller...

Many dogfights over almost 30 years with and against my brother

I was the one who invited Ack-Ack to come check out FR in AirWarrior, when I asked him which arena he played in and said RR..

I told him he have a better experience of the game...

Brings tears 😢...

My condolences 🙏 for your loss and our loss of a valued member of this family...

Sincerely,

TC  / Johnny

You know, he was also a great shot with that big canon in the B-25. we'd be flying and he'd get into one of those to pop GV's.

He was so laid back and intelligent. He used to crack me up with his stories of notorious players in AH past. He had such a great memory for everything that happened in AH and even AW. I was hoping to get him to come back to AH recently.

I know he had some health problems but I thought he'd gotten past them. I don't know if he ever made it up to Tahoe, but that's where they were thinking about moving.

It's so sad and I'm going to miss him. I knew him for maybe 20 years.

My condolences to his family and friends.

My experiences with Ack Ack go back a long ways, all the way back my days in The Assassins squad.

He was very skilled in the P-38, someone I enjoyed flying with and fighting against.  He was always willing to offer tips when I would ask him about how be to be successful in the Lightning.  We talked about winging up, but it never worked out.

In my opinion, one of the greatest P-38 pilots in the history of this game.  I will always remember him as such.

Wow. This is quite a shocker. Even though Ack-ack and I had our differences and smacked each other around a bit, I respected his understanding of WW2 aircraft and Air Combat situations. We had a few down to the grit 1v1 fights and <S> each other after. I do consider him one of the best P38 pilots in AH and he wasn't afraid to get down n dirty in the 1v1. I am sorry to hear of his passing and send my best wishes to his family and close friends. Great fights ack-ack :salute

Very sorry to hear this, he was a Master in the 38, and it was always a little dream of mine to beat him 1 on 1, I never managed it though.

I thought it was going to happen once, I was high in my Hurri, and he was pretty slow on the deck in his 38, I knew it was him, as he'd just dispatched a fellow Bish, so I went diving down....

45 secs later he'd got my 6 and popped me, I could only laugh and send a <S>, a true Icon of this game.

Sorry for your loss Amy.  :salute

Because of him I cook huevos rancheros for breakfast sometimes and also quesadillas for my family even though we're Europeans. He was a fellow RC car fan. Never did complete that conversation.

This hits close to home.  AKAK was one of the primary reasons I started flying the P38s.  Not so much emulate him but just to try and figure out how he was so dang accurate in it.  He was always helpful and even though I was shot down by him a lot... no seriously... a LOT, it always had us trading salutes and then a private "WHAT did I do to screw THAT one up??" or "HOW did you do that???"  Since then, I have just kept flying them, probably always will.

Prayers and my sincere condolences to his family.

I met Jose “AKAk” Osio in person at Awcon98 when he was a Rep for CH products back when it was a family owned business. Being the really nice guy he was …. He saw that I was using a micro$not twisty stick and decided to hook me up with a complete HOTAS with a CH Fighter Stick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals, FOR FREE he just gave them to me saying “You will get better with these”.

I flew with and against Ak-Ak in scenarios and to this very day I have never had a bad word to say about the guy. I may have fought with him a time or two in virtual airplanes in virtual skies but we never had anything bad to say about each other on Vox an Open text Chanel or even the the forums.

AkAk was a fairly private person, his facebook page was hardly ever used, and when it was, it was for family.

Sadly what makes AkAk’s passing especially painful is the fact he was not that old, at 52 years of age.

Jose was a fantastic friend over the years.   We also shared in our fraternity as well, TKE.   We'd always salute each other on Channel 1 with 'If can't Greek, Go TKE!'

Save a seat for me Jose.   I'll bring the beer.   RIP my friend.

He was an OK guy. He was arrogant in AH, but he could back that up so it was acceptable behaviour– On the occasions I interacted on vox with him he was amiable and helpful. I thought to some of the virtual fights I had with him when I heard this and smiled.
He was fun - He was very highly regarded - He had class.
He made a difference Mrs "Ack-Ack" - if this game is a mirror to real life he must have been something - sorry for your loss

:(

This hits close to home.  AKAK was one of the primary reasons I started flying the P38s.  Not so much emulate him but just to try and figure out how he was so dang accurate in it.  He was always helpful and even though I was shot down by him a lot... no seriously... a LOT, it always had us trading salutes and then a private "WHAT did I do to screw THAT one up??" or "HOW did you do that???"  Since then, I have just kept flying them, probably always will.

Prayers and my sincere condolences to his family.

Thank you all, so much. Some of the comments made me cry and smile. He talked about a few of you.

My name is Amy, Zmy is my game/forum name.

Fly on, in peace, knowing a p38 will not be shooting you down, today. /salute

Ack-Ack and I have been adversaries in the air for many years, but it never affected the respect I had for him and his skills in the P-38.  I never let myself get caught in a turn fight with him, but he was feared in the air.

Thoughts and prayers to Mrs Ack-Ack and his family and extensive in-game friends.    :salute :pray

I must be the only guy he openly disliked.  I never liked being shot down by him so I always ran away and waited until he got tangled up in some medium alt dog fight, then I would drop the hammer, man he hated me.

I remember this one time.....

Oh well.

Rest easy ACK-ACK

This is a VERY SAD and a lose that really "hits home". Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone else out there but it's the way I feel about Ack-Ack and how I he fell into the game that I have logged over a 100s of hours a month for many years of playing!
I'm very sorry to hear this and the loss of him playing the same game with me over the years will always be a lot different!

Murdr and I were talking about Jose’s unsudden death . We both flew with Ack-Ack for many years since Aur Warrior and Aces he was always a great squaddie friend and Advasary in the Game Since Ack-Ack flew the Squadron name 479th Raiders til he passed that Squad name should kinda be retired even though I know that can’t happen and one of the original members of the 479th wish it could happen

I can't believe that A man who was the emblem of the way to fly, fight and live to do it again is gone.
He has been a part of the morning prayer to Jesus' right with Betty. I haven't flown with any of you for more than just a year but I'm thinking about dropping a few $ and trying to fly again! It feels to me as though this game is starting to leave us... In more ways than one.

Being a gamer for far more than I'd care to admit though this game has even brought me with quite a few of good friends who even had come to my Birthday party to eat the BEST wings at the well-known place amongst us dweebs living in Litchfield County! I got to meet drink with and fill the gut with the BEST WING'S EVER At "Woods Pitt". Had em and drank a few Dark Beer's with Mars01, Badboy, and Slapshot, Matter of fact I think Stang even had a few of each with me too at Woods Pitt!

Hello,

I am Ack-Acks wife and with much regret I must announce that he passed away on Oct 1, 2022. He loved this game and had many happy hours shooting down people in his p38. I'm sorry for the delay, I was making arrangements for him.

Thank you, Hitech for being someone he highly respected. Thank you for all the hours of fun you gave him.

With much respect,
Zmy; Ack-Acks widow

That's a shame, condolences to his family and friends. Ack-Ack and i go back many years sparing in the arenas, never easy to beat. I just got back in the game and was thinking if I'd run into him.

RIP Ack-Ack
