Title: B-17G 100th BG 418th BS "Miss Conduct"
Post by: oboe on February 28, 2023, 02:46:55 PM
B-17G-90-BO 43-38525 "Miss Conduct" flown by 2/Lt George Morasco of the 100thBG 418thBS, RAF Thorpe Abbots, 1945

Delivered to the 418th Bombardment Squadron of the 100th Bombardment Group in September 1944 and was given the name "Miss Conduct". She was heavily damaged by Flak and German fighters in October but managed to get back to her base at Thorpe Abbots (Norfolk, England) where she was repaired and soon ready for new missions. In March, 1945 she lost two engines to Flak over Germany but managed to make an emergency landing in Belgium on the way back. Miss Conduct survived the war and was flown back to the U.S. in summer 1945.

Adopted from one of Fencer's 100th BG skins.   I've depicted her later in the War, after the additional decoration of red prop bosses and red stripe around the nose.

Yeah, no kidding.  Personally its just a little bit beyond my taste, but I keep an informal record of the B-17 skins I see in game, and the most popular skins (excluding the default "Bit O' Lace" from the 447th BG) seem to be this one, the red checkerboard tail "Rubys" from the 385thBG, and the candy-striped ruddered one "Kwitchersqueakin" from the 97th BG.   Between the two that are orphaned, "Miss Conduct" was in the most need of an update to get the appropriate spec, power and environmental maps.   A lot of the detail was missing too, as it was an original 1024x1024 B-17G skin resized to 2048x2048 for the new model.   There was a formation of 21 up just last week; if its going to be flown, I thought it should at least look closer to proper bare metal.

Personally I like a bit of "skin on skin" action.  :D

Great job on "Miss Conduct" Oboe.
