wheres my squaddies?
« on: January 08, 2003, 12:43:50 AM »
My squad recently surpassed AH squad limit causing us to have to split. As a result of this we have lost effective use of squad dar.

-possible solutions--

----increase squad size capacity?
----channel 5 highlite?

Reduce the number of guys in the squad :D

Seriously, I would try to reorganize the squads so that guys who are usually on at the same time are in the same squad. Chances are, you are not going to have more than 32 guys on at any given time.

If you do, that's one hell of a dedicated squad. But if you have that large of a group, it shouldn't be hard to keep it together, providing you are also organized.

So you've either got a well tuned fighting machine, or a huge cluster f.. umm circus ;)

It would seem to me, that a game that chooses to expand its player base by advertising on international levels, would be interested in accomidating said  expanded player base with comforts catering to LARGER NUMBERS.  It is not coincidence that my squad grew at the same time as AH player base.

The request seems simple enuff, & I know that there is a significant amount of other players who would like to see this topic  addressed.  Unfortunately not many of them post in the feedback forum but rather in the general discussion. It seems to me that General discussion is very rarely responded to by staff. So I will try to get some people to relay their input to  FEEDBACK

Reducing squad size isnt the answer, who gets cut & why? You want to argue the realism factor of squad size?
Real squads ate, slept, worked & played on the same schedule. They typically lifted same time & stayed together.  Typically the only guys you could see while in flight was "yer squad".

Two options

Those on same radio Freq are marked as squaddies.

Increase squad size.  Flying Circus a fun squad with lots of people that participate regularly.  Some see this, and know that if they join the Flying Circus they usually will have someone to fly with.

Either way I don't see that much of a problem doing either of these two fixes.

Midnite-  I am not the CO of my squad,  but I am authorized to recognize you think we may be a cluster ____. Any time you think any number of yer guys is ready to square off with my guys in floppy shoes & big noses, you let us know. We will be more than happy to oblige.
Dont be jealous that you arent as popular as us.  Thats the only reason you dont need more squad dar.

Squad Size and Radio Freq. restriction

I am in total support that something needs to be done about the current squad size limits. Whether or not there are regular fliers who could be considered "A" squad, the vox channel thing is really important to coordinating squads. I would like to see the squad size limit removed or at least increased upwards (doubled ?).

Another issue closely linked to squad comms. is privacy of the channel. In the past 2 weeks, several multi-account dweebs flying for other countries have tuned in and listened to our "ops" discussions to prepare for our attacks. This is beyond lame...

I would like to see another function available to squads that allows them to restrict access to their vox channel by "intruders". I'm not sure how this would work with multiple friendly squads who also might contest for the same channel, but it seems the concept is already there with having "squad highlight" available in game. If they're in you're squad, they can be highlighted with a different color. The same should work for vox channel access. If another squad wants to use channel "123", they should be able to have their own virtual "123" channel that's unique to them.
