Someone's post gave me this idea and I'm wonderingfi such a thing exists...if not...we could make some $$$.

I want a Static model airplane, (Preferably WWII) that sits on a stand and is operated with a TV like remote control.

Example...You push a button, the gear come down, landing lights, flaps extend, canopy opens...etc.

Tell me that would not be cool....

Maybe have the props spin, some machine gun firign...

Any chance something...anything like this exists?

You can get remote control devices for ceiling fans at Home Depot and replace the regular on/off switch in a battery-operated model, assuming there's room to house the receiver either in the model or in the display stand.

For just under $300 this baby could be yours:

Sound, fibre-optic lights, motorized propeller.

Or for $35 you can get this one with a spinning prop. No lights or sound but you could probably cobble something together yourself. Plus, its 1/48 scale so it'll take up less room that the 1/35 scale Zero.

Both are Timiya Models, the Corsair is their 1/48 scale motorised, it goes for like 24 to 30 bucks.

I have this one half built, amazing detail, you can see out the window in the bottom of the plane and the cockpit has no floor.

LOL i am having issues getting it painted, it is the first one I have tried in a long time. Plus the wings are giving me issues. But that cause I got paint where the glue goes hehe

The other is a 1/32 scale Zero 5.

The landing gear retract just like the real thing, IE they compress as they close, the model come with a wrench, it comes with tons of photetched parts it is amazingly detailed. goes for about 100 bucks.

I have one but do not feel I am skilled enough yet to put it together.
Best plastic model company out their in my opinion.

I sourced the photos and prices from http://www.modelexpo-online.com because they've given me excellent service over the years. They just started carrying the Tamiya plastic kits as their exclusive line of plastic scale models (and are clearing out their inventory of Airfix, Heller, Revell, Lindberg, etc. at some pretty good prices).

They have other 1/48 scale airplanes with spinning props. I used the Corsair because it was the first one I saw in their list.
