Sadly, lots of guys I know who are still out there are now terrified of dating any female cadet or female in the area because they are scared she's going to turn on them.
I'm glad I was able to provide a side of the story to all of you that helped clarify the mess that the media has been throwing around.
As for Suntracker, there are not 4 generals in charge of the Cadet Wing. There are three, and two of them were good guys who got the short end of the stick for simply being there. The third general actually started this whole mess and deserved what he got. The fourth commander mentioned in the article was probably a Colonel.
One of the generals was the Dean...obviously, he is focused on Academics, does not have much interaction with cadets AT ALL and got taken out of the job simply for being there. He was actually the very last one, taken out months after the others just because some females kept throwing tantrums. (and still are)
Another general was a 3 star who pulled my happy little butt out of the fire and managed to straighten out a situation before it got worse. He had a great sense of humor, actually treated cadets like people, and was the greatest honor to have known. Me and some friends even took him a box of donuts because we joked about him being too thin. He had no idea that anything was going on, but was fired simply because he was at the top of the chain of command.
The last general however, was a jerk who deserved to have gotten in trouble. He was rude and treated cadets like bugs. While what he told the female cadet that started all of this (he likened the girl who was doing body shots and stripping and flirting to a guy walking down a dark alley with a hundred dollar bill in his pocket), he was overall not a good person.
SunTracker, you do not have any clue what you are talking about. Before you start carrying on about how personally disappointed you are by the Academy and the generals in charge of it, at least get your facts straight before you start bashing the whole shebang.
And finally, remember, the Academy itself is not the problem with the few real cases of rape that have occured. Its one or two bad individuals that did some really bad things. It's a few bad choices made by a few individuals. It is NOT every single officer running the Academy and it is definitly not every cadet who walks through those doors so that they may serve their country.
