Rescue Missions
« on: May 24, 2004, 11:16:08 PM »
We have a buddy swiming in the ocean after he bailed out.
How nice would be if we could save him (and his kills) or he save
our prettythang droping a plastic boat with a c-47 in a distance lets say
50 metres (150 feet) ?
Rescue missions was a reality in WWII. Why not here ?

Bring it on!

Now we got rubber dingys and yellow and black c47s to shoot as well as chutes!

The new terrain brings some awesome immersion even for bailed out pilots.

This one time I've bailed near an enemy base. There were enemy GVs nearby, and I had to run my arse off into the woods :D and hide. Yeah I could've just ended the flight, but where's the fun in that?

Running in the woods, hiding out from enemy planes or GVs.. making my way into an abandoned farm house and stuff.. man, it was awesome.

Personally I'd like to see troop carrying LTVs upping in 3s like bombers
Would give a more invasion like effect

This would be a great addition to the TOD. A rescued pilot would conserve his rank.

+ it would give a good reason to have planes like the Lysander or the Catalina.

OTOH capturing a downed pilot should be possible too.

Hide and seek anyone ;) ?

The ability to join certain ride types that are within a given range and stopped on the ground and be flown or driven back to a safe place to rtb might be fun if there was an actual benefit to avoiding "capture".

It would have a real role in scenario's /events however.

For the rescue scenario, there would need to be some sort of alert....cos no-one would be @rsed to wait for a rescue..or no-one would really be committed enough to fly around waiting for a downed pilot.....unless it was a mad dogfighting session

smart idea though
