Ballistics Question
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:33:44 AM »
Question for all you gun experts out there...

1) Could a .45 bullet be fired from a .357 revolver?

2) At close range, what kind of bullet would leave a .5 inch X .5 inch entrance wound, but no exit wound?

Thanks!

1. No.  The thing you're tying to push down the hole is bigger than the hole.

2. I have no idea.  Some type of black powder mini-ball?

#1 has already been answered

#2 likely a .45  (of the common cartridges).  individual bullet shape & composition, powder-charges, shot placement, and what (or who) you shot will determine how far you penetrate and whether or not you have an exit wound.

.45 Glaser Safety Slug maybe?

Frangible projectiles that disintergrate on impact.

Entry wound, massive internal damage, no exit wound.
