World War II Plus 55, by David H Lippman

Wanna get hyped up about the Battle for Midway? Start reading  4 June Part 2 but then read everything!

My friend was almost there but went to Airship training. Leslie was his instructor and Gay graduated one month behind him (my friend, Dr. Roy Whicker). At "E" Base, his class was sitting twiddleing thier thumbs and washing dishes. He became impatiant and signed up for Airship school. After he was gone, the rest ended up at Midway! Eventually he ended up flying the F6F but was asigned to a reserve unit and was never called to see action. At 80 years old he still builds and flys airplanes. He has built a full scall replica of the Neuport, in 1966, and is powered by the LaRhone engine. He has built other airplanes and just finished a Baby Ace. He also owns a 1935 Davis.

Anyway, these guys are begining to fade away and I treasure the time I am able to spend listning to his stories. Although they are not about shooting down airplanes, they are historical indeed! He told me stries about how he was practicing landing on carriers when the guy in front of him forgot to relatch his shoulder harness, his face was mush after it met with the instrument panel after grabbibg the arrester cable :(   Other stories about landing airships and many more fatality stories.

Hope you enjoy the posted web site!
