Monitor locked at 60hz in game
« on: June 03, 2004, 01:21:21 AM »
Geting multires and refreshforce to work.
I just did a fresh reformat. Running the current omega drivers and have installed my monitor inf files correctly. I simply want to unlock the 60hz refresh rate to allow 85mz which my monitor will do in the two resolutions I play and work in.

1280 x 1024
and
1024x768

So I've tried Multires and reforce.

Both I set my resolutions to 85hz.

I've even disabled "dcc" in display settings and still my games max at 60hz. Any ides on how to get this to work.

One msg that comes up when I run RefreshForce is

windows reports that a "default monitor" is active.

Not sure what that can be doing but In display settings I shows my correct monitor name and plug n play monitor below that.

any ideas on how to get this working?

system specs

Albatron KX400-8X
AMD XP 2100
3x 256DDR pc-2100 Crucial
Radeon 97000 pro Omega V. 2.5.44
DX 9.0b
40gig IBM 60x Deskstar HDD x2
SB!live Soundcard
CH USB 658 Flightstick
CH USB Pro Throttle
CH USB Pro Pedals
TrackIR
Samsung Synchmaster 1100DF Monitor

Is it even possible to run Aces High online over 60hz?

I have vsync set to application default, would that have an effect?
I understand I need it on to avoid the rubber bullets ect..

any help is appreciated.

The stock ATI driver control panel allows you to set the refresh rate to whatever you think your monitor will run at.

At home, I run AH at 1280x1024 and 120Hz refresh (verified with the monitor's OSD menu).

I've tried the ATI override you are talking about, still no luck. :(

Is your monitor a plug n play monitor?  Does the video control panel show the proper monitor name?

It showed the correct monitor then plug in play below that. I've since installed the monitor .inf for both and they show the correct name now.

With the proper monitor name in place (i.e. the INF files installed) you should be able to set the refresh rate in the ATI control panel.  I have no idea if the Omega drivers will honor that setting though.

type "dxdiag" in the run box on the start menu

Click the "more help" tag

Click the "over ride" button; and enter the setting you want.

If you hold steady at 60fps through clear blue skies as well as battles around fleets, your monitor refresh rate is set to 60.
My max is 72hz, but for some reason, it keeps jumping back to 60hz.  There is an obscure refresh rate setting somewhere in windows that is prolly keeping you at 60, regardless of what you wet it at in the ati driver section.  Hold on and I will try to find it.
