I know some of you have been talking about this. Can anyone tell me what settings I need to get the max anti aliasing settings to work? I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB.

After a bit of experimentation I can answer my own question. Apparently, the only video setting that has any affect over whether or not antialiasing will be used is the texture setting. Cranked it down to 256 and aa is working again. BTW, I don't get the texture flashing with aa on.

Really?  Beta 42 fixed it for me.  I run at 1024 textures at AA is running at 4x.

Max AA depends on your resolution.  I have a 9600xt (128mb vidmem) and can max 4x at 1600 and 6x at 1280.

I tried 1024x768, 512 textures, and aa set at middle setting in ati control panel. Says application preference so I'm not sure what it is trying to do.  No antialiasing in AH2. Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb. Will play around with it some more.

Ok, set aa to 2x, works now with textures at 1024. Can't get 4x to work with texture setting higher than 256. Thanks for the tip Octavius.

Application preference is basically disabling AA altogether.  It sounds like you're running into the same problem a few of us had a few versions ago.  HT suggested AA would be disabled once video memory is used up.  To cure this, he disabled the precaching of aircraft skins as they were now being loaded quickly.  Precaching = unnecessary.  With a 128mb card, I dont know why it's disabled with higher texture sizes.

What driver version are you using?

ATI downloaded Catalyst 4.6. Though I first noticed this with 4.5 and a different version of AH2. I am overclocking the video card a bit but can't see how that could be the cause.

I run at 1600x1200x32 at ATI's default max quality setting.

I noticed that when I first start AH2, I don't have FSAA. I simply switch to 1024x768 and FSAA is restored. Then I switch back to 1600x1200 and FSAA remains enabled.

I don't recall when this started happening to me, only a few patches ago. But I know this solution has worked for me every time.

Contrary to my sig, I am presently running Cat 4.5
