Was Silent Hunter 2 any good?

The last time I owned a sub sim, it was on a Commodore 64.

Silent Hunter II was very good and with the Pacific Aces build from the subsim.com community it's awsome. So good that it's kept me away (that and work) from AH and especially AH2 for close to 3 months now.

The movies are nice, sure looks like iL 2 engine tough...

Oh, and one more thing, Bismark never shot down a Swordfish !!!

god.. when is the supposed release date?

if multiplayer is good then i'll be hooked for a while. SH2 multi turned me off considerably

The last Sub sim that was to be released was "Akula" ... and of course, it was cancelled...

Maybe it uses OpenGL for graphics... that would be nice.
OGL often looks alike between different games...
