IDless Rangeless Scenarios?
« on: July 09, 2004, 10:16:29 PM »
Was it Combat Theater or one of the special events that occasionally ran scenarios with no plane or vehicle identification or range counters?

Certainly changed the game.  Obviously much more realistic.  Lots more hunting, closing, and improvisation.

Works only in CT or special theater with different opposing planes, and could not let any plane or vehicle be used for both sides (e.g., Panzer simulating Sherman for allied).

Any plans for no identification and no range counting in any Combat Theater event coming soon?  Could be fun.

You're confusing AH with Warbirds.

Warbids did this once in awhile and it was fun.  Sure did make for different dynamics and you got a better feeling for how it was flying in the real deal.

I'm thinking Aces High has also done this occasionally, but am still uncertain whether was in Combat Theater or special scenario; I think it was the latter.

I remember a couple Euro scenarios with both high and low alt engagements with no plane ID but not sure if still had range numbers.

It certainly makes for deep realism in IL-2/FB/AEP.  Would be fun trying some ultra realism in a Combat Theater once in awhile.

Aces High has done it in SEA.
