"Hub" Zemke's Oregons Britannia

A little research revealed that this plane did not become the "Happy Warrior" until it was handed down to Harold Comstock. He added the Happy Warrior paint when he made Colonal.

This was a War Bond plane and when it arrived colored stabilizers were not allowed as of yet. Plates show it without upper invasion strips, a blue stabilizer and the "Happy Warrior" paint.

This is the paint that it had when it first arrived when Zemke first flew it. It was the first bubble top Jug delivered to the 56th.

On it's first sortie on May 31, 1944 Zemke shot down two Fw 190's, a third as a probable and one damaged.

Almost done

I can't fly them worth a damm, so I don't.

But Jugs are the most beautiful planes ever built.
