What a shame!!!
« on: August 05, 2004, 12:55:10 AM »
So here we are, HTC now doing experiments in the forums, locking, banning & people getting nasty.

A new map comes out and WHAM!!!!  were right back to square one it seems. Is there a pattern here?
I for one have to start asking some questions because I honestly believe this WHOLE community is on a downward spirial.

NO, I'm not try to be negitive nor do I want any harm to come to HTC and it's players. I still to this day wish this would become the best wwII combat sim of all time. I have stated this from the beginning and anyone that knows me in the game {and in R/L} knows that I have always felt this way.

Of course just like any other human with feeelings or a conscience I too have lashed out, told off, defended views, screamed bloody murder, felt belittled, left-out, unimportant and so on.

The whole big picture I'm trying to paint here is just this, IMO ever since {I know AH1 had it's share of issues & complaints} AH2 got released the entire {for the most part} community has been up in arms, so to speak.
Please do not confuse this with "gameplay" issues or "the Rooks have more players than us" arguments.  It goes way deeper than that. It's the whole underlying issues of this community as a group and a team.

Bottom line it seems, is that there appears to be so many unhappy people in this game {and YES there are truley happy people also} it's as if thier affraid of what might happen or won't happen. So when someone makes a statement about the game that they don't agree with their all over um like stink on you know what.  Then comes the pour of "go somewhere else buddy" we don't want YOU here, thats the last thing we need is for someone to "rock the boat" a bit.

That's why I call it a shame, I don't have all the answers for HTC only they know where they want to take this game and it's players.
Maybe {just a thought} instead of using up time and energy to ban, lock, kick, complain and whatever else HTC wants to do with the BBS. Just think if you channeled all that energy and enthusiasm into a giant brainstorm of help, information, insight and whatever else all these great minds seem to have and help make AH the game it  can be and everyone want's.

My 2 cents

it depends on who you ask.

Some people say this game isn't even past alpha much less beta others will say the game is fine and doesn't need to be worked on any more.  oe we get a new plane things should calm down here a little.  Once ToD is out things will really calm down.

I think the jest of the problem comes from the fact that so many here come from a big variety of different flight/combat sims or sims in general,  each simmer had his/her idea of what was good or bad set in stone before they ever arrived in the AH realm and it just takes time to gel. More so as time progresses with AH2 more and more players have came around and accepted something new, alot of players in any game hates change, especially once they become accustomed to a certian way, hence Aces High Classic, we had it, what since open beta of was it 99/98 and all of a sudden everyone near the end of it around May or so was use to it, so here we are with AH2 a new up to date version..with it comes turmoil, some like it better, other dislike it......give it a year or so and we all be right back where we were over a year ago and having absolute fun..people come people go...true simmers always stick around til they are finally burnt out and have to leave it be for awhile....This community is not being torn apart or spiraling down, it is just in flux and is adjusting to all the changes from AH1 to AH2, this happens in every Flight/online Sim always has always will....just got to bite the bullet and see how it plays out........if it don't satisfy your taste buds, then that is how it should be....I feel alot of people just don't give things enough time, sure we all have our wants, sim players are greedy and when it comes right down to the jest of it, if it don't hold your interest or pisses you off to fast/too much you honestly need to step back and take a look at your self and how you are acting, if  some realize how foolish they look after reading what they typed, maybe they should take  some time off and enjoy the great outdoors.....but to flame players, flame the company that brings this fine entertainment to the masses is down right ludicrous.

I can't wait to see us all 10 years from now and I bet we all will still be acting the same identical way.....that is just the way it is and always will be......especially on a BBS

bottom line...if it isn't fun why waste your time........and bring everyone else down?

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

The complainers usually don't have what we call "logic". They complain about not being able to take off from a field without being vulched, so they cancel their accounts. They have the ability to take off from another airfield to help the one that is being vulched, but since they pay $15 a month, they think they should get to do whatever they want (read: breaking the rules).

Most of us are quite happy with AHII. I couldn't be happier --- Much better flight models, better graphics, better sound support, better skin support, and more updates (duh).

If I ran this board, I would ban all of the whiners for at least 48 hours. That's just enough time for them to discover how stupid their rants really are :lol .
