Sniper rifle
« on: May 09, 2000, 05:50:00 AM »
Got shot down again yesterday...bailed and landed safely about 2 clicks from an enemy airfield. Lot's of fighting going on there, enemy fighters were almost shaving my head, pissing me off. And I thought.. I don't want a P47, P61 or a beaufighter.. I need a large caliber sniper rifle! Gimme my sniper rifle now...!! Lemme put one juuust in between the eyes of those pesky little enemy fighters...

Seriously I think bailed pilots could use some firepower... or flares. Or even a kamikaze detpack, if your into that stuff..

We've been requesting this since Beta, I'd prefer a B.A.R. with a couple of belts of ammo, but historically, we should get a .45 for Allied pilots, and a Mauser for German pilots..

Okay , why not expand this and give them flares? Everybody wants a spotter plane anyway so we could make that pick up bailed pilots. I don't think that ditching or being captured does a lot to your score right now but this might change later.

Ditching in friendly territory gives you 2/3 's of your potential points scored in a sortie, ditching and getting captured gives you 1/3 's of your potential points scored in a sortie.

So bailing in enemy space and then being rescued by a spotter plane or a panzer and then back to base gives you + 1/3 points...

They call me Bailout Jimmy..
So just gimmie gimmie gimmie..

Back in brand-W you used to be able to fire the sidearm held extended in your virtual hand while falling and while hanging in the chute (limited ammo).  Once (and ONLY once, mind you), I actually hit this spitfire as it made a close pass!  I guess the guy took it persnally, because he came back in and shot me in my chute.  The nerve!  It was only a .45, after all  .  Needless to say, that's the last time I fired my side arm at a plane...well...maybe once or twice since then  .
