Heating question

Ok I figured I'd use the collective intelligence of this board once again to solve a problem.

we got a pool the other day, above ground with the inflatable ring on top.

The thing has a filter and two pretty good sized hoses coming to and fro.


My question is this.......if you were to want to heat the water coming in and out of those tubes using sunlight how would you do it?

I was thinking of wrapping them in aluminum foil and then covering those with some type of black material like imitation leather.


The trick as I see it is you have to have something to attract the heat from the sun and then something else to hold/radiate that heat.


What do you all think, any other sudgestions?

Had this pool....Entex 24 x 48"  But used auto chlorinator and kept cover on it....the cover itself heated it up too much for me.....and still had the cool water on the bottom...the pump isnt strong enough to displace that water (IMO)


BUT, if you keep that cover on, u better be checking the PH and Alkalinity often....if you dont stay on top of it, it will algae bad on ya......


Sold the pool with the house....FYI....great pool for money...did the job for this kiddo, and cool enough to hang out in.

Use an old trick from Arizona, Get a 55 gal oil drum paint it FLAT black put the return in the bottom pull water from the top for the supply to the pool. the efficency of the solar heater can be increased by putting a corner reflector behind the durm, to put sunlight on all sides of the drum.  limit the flow of the water through the heater using some kind of flow diverter/controler.
