Back when I posted this thread, some of you said something like "just wait for the tazer training."  Well, it came today.

Wow.

Knelt on a wrestling mat with a spotter on each arm.  The instructor alligator clipped the two prongs to my shirt, one near the back of the left shoulder and the other above my right butt cheek.  He backs off, asks if you're ready, and....

ZAAAAPPPPPP!!!

It lasted for a second or so, but I kicked the wire and pulled my shirt out far enough that the electricity wasn't arcing into my back.  It hurt, but wasn't terrible.  So being the fool I am, I said I wanted it again so I'd get a full 5 second hit.

Five seconds is much worse.  Much, much worse.  When it hit me I kind of knew what to expect from the first little hit, but still let out with a growl.  All the muscles in my back contracted like no other, and of course there's the feeling of 50,000 volts going through my back.  Hurts like hell.  After about 3 seconds (eternity), I fell over onto my stomach and rode out the rest of it face down.  For some reason the pain gets worse when you're on the ground.

Finally though, it ended.  Compared to the pepper spray, the tazer is nice because when it's done, it's done.  Just a little tingling for a bit, and two burn blisters where the electricity was arcing.  Not like the pepper spray that has you feeling effects for up to 24 hours.

All in all... it sucks, but it sure is a great feeling when it stops.    :)

The OC is worse isn't it? Had to get the OC when I trained for the NAS Oceana police force. Not only did they spray us...but we had to fight with the baton at 4 differnt stations..the last one being the red man who beats you down pretty hard everytime you drop your guard in the slightest. Was fun though..well the fighting anyway.

Oh and when you think the OC is done..you go home take a shower and BAM it's back again.

Glad you don't have a undetected heart condition. Police nation wide are expanding use of tazers and starting to find how many citizens have heart conditions. Coronor's report is the same. Police not to blame, citizens heart condition to blame.

I feel for ya.  When I had to do Brig Chaser duty we had to go through alot of the same training the cops did.

we didn't have to do the taser thing but the pepper spray sucked all hell!

We got sprayed then had to attack two guys with arm guards.  I had no will to fight whatsoever....I just wanted a Kbar so I could cut my own eyes out.

What sucked is I forgot (wich I should have known from all the times I've been through the gas chamber) to take a cold shower instead of hot.  The hot water opend up all my pores and it was a spraying all over again.  This time I was blind and naked in the shower.

That was worse than the time I went into the gas chamber and my roomate removed the inserts from my mask (again stupid me for not checking them first).  So basically I went into the chamber without a gas mask...or worse a mask on my face trapped with gas.

GL man keep up the good work

Went I was staffing a bootcamp in the military program Im in we were offered to go to the tear gas building. We had to walk in, walk 6 laps around , then put a small puzzle together, then run an obstacle course. Boy o boy, I never knew I had that much snot in me. After it was all done and a few Army personel standing nearby laughing their arses off, you feel the effects for quite awhile. A few other cadets that were with us chose to rub their face (nose, eyes, mouth) during and after the experience. This makes it even worse by far. Then to top it off they also chose to take hot showers to clean off the "aftermath" they had yet another reaction. Now this was pretty bad i cant even come close to imagining how painful those 5 seconds of 50,000 volts feels like.

Military gas chambers aren't bad..at least when you're out it's done...benn in a few of those over the years...but Oleoresin Capsicum especially the 10% type feels like it won't ever end...then you think it's over..you go home, shower, and it reactivates..make sure you lean over before getting your face wet or it will run down your body and burn the whole way especially when it gets to a certain spot. Good thing my qual is good for 3 years..in fact I'm gonna scan it in and change it when the three years is up to buy another 3:D

Well, should I ever find myself out of my mind and attacking a police officer, I hope they have a taser handy.  I'd rather risk the heart complications from a taser, than the complications that would arise from having a bullet in my torso.
