The deforestation of the rainforest belt affects the entire world.. It is potentially a bigger single issue than anything else  happening in Africa.

They could give it to Bush for dedicating 15 Billion dollars for AIDS assistance to Africa, no wait, he is a Republican.

well... all is not lost, maybe we can get the UN to sanction countries with rain forests if they don;t stop cutting them right this minute.

If they ignore the sanctions the UN can allways sanction them again.

I find this statement a bit odd coming from you MT, somehow to me it seems to push the focus of cris away from the empovershined and opressed local polulations and shiftys it to the wider  college educatued world who would know of such problems. I mean I know that the africans and south americans arent cutting/burning down the rainforest for ****s and giggles, they are doing it to earn a living thjriugh farming and livestock somehow so I ask what  other job would you replace that activity with?

simple... just organize a world pollution council.... have all the nations sign onto it and the wealthy nations can pay for any solutions like subsidizing the africans.
