Is VOX working in AH? If so how does one use it? I saw that the default key to "key mic" was T, but how do I use it. Also saw a button to enable Roger Wilco ...any special trick to using RW in AH?
Thanks

Dueler,
To begin with you need to have Roger Wilco installed on your system. You can download it at: http://www.resounding.com.

After you have installed and configured it, just follow the wizard that comes with the program, you need to go to the setup screen on your clipboard, click on the Roger Wilco button and enable it.

To use it in the game you need to tune it to a channel someone is using by tuning radio 5. You can do this by typing in the following:  .radio 5 XXX. XXX being the channel you want to tune to.

If someone else is on the same channel you press the mike key (T is default) and speak. You can change that default mike key in the configuration section of RW if you are so inclined.

I personaly have had some trouble using the current version of RW so am using a much earlier version I had on my computer. Others have stated it causes their machines to crash. It seems best to have only the "Enable Roger Wilco" button pressed in the setup menu and not have the other two selected.

Hope this helps.

If you use Roger Wilco with DX8, be sure to set RW to use "Wav" recording.  Direct Sound recording does not seem to function properly with DX8.

Even with wav recording selected, some folks are still having problems with Roger Wilco.  I get it to work fine, but beware that if you have it running and experience problems with the game freezing or crashing, removing Roger Wilco may solve it.

Thanks for your replies. I do have RW on my machine and have used it for a long time in Air Warrior. I will check it out today. What about this RW auto tune thing does anyone use that?
Thanks

Yep....ya just set it up and you can tune by bringing up the radio bar and typing a number in the last box to the right.  I think channels 100-199 are for your country and 200-299 are global....but I am not sure on that.  Somebody else will jump in here shortly and correct me.

Also, when you bring your kneepad up by using the ESC key, go into setup.  There is a Roger Wilco button on that screen.  Click it and make sure you have RW set to "Enabled".  You can also set Aces High to start RW automatically when you start the game, if you wish.

When you close this RW setup screen, you should get a message in the game "Voice Settings Updated".

Some people have problems mapping push to talk to a joystick button.  I've got a Sidewinder Precision USB stick, and it works fine for me, however.  I've got my 4 button mapped to the "T" key in the Sidewinder Profile software.

Note, if you use push to talk and leave it as the default T, you will here a mic click every time you type the letter T in the text radio buffer.

I have remapped my mic key in AH to be numberpad . and I changed it in RW as well.  Once you close and restart both applications, the new mic key will work and you won't be passing mic clicks on the RW channel all the time either.

Thanks for the tips.  I still have a couple questions, however:

1.  When I have used RW in other games, the 1st guy has had to be the host, set up an RW session, tell everybody else what IP he's got, and then they all join him.  Is this required in AH or does the game somehow take care of this and all you have to do is tune radio 5?

2.  Is it possible to talk on ch 4, for example, or do you have to use 100-299?

Thanks.

If ya have RW enabled in AH, you just tune radio channel 5 and it will take care of it for you.  However, if you have problems with it and you have it disabled in AH, you can independently tune it to the IP that your buddies are using.

I have tried all of the above suggestions but still had problems to get RW to work until I went to www.rogerwilco.com
and clicked on gamelobby(or something similar, canīt remember exactly what it says).
In the gamelobby you can choose AH and you will enter a room where you can talk to everyone else that is in that room.
From there you create your own channel and all you friends that will be flying with you have to go to the same channel.
After that you just start AH and it will work, at least that is how I got it to work in the end.
This way you donīt have to give your ip to anyone.

Well, thanks to all the adivce here, my squad managed to get RW working as intended.  Everybody set RW up for .wav files and in AH just clicked the ENABLE RW button.  Then we picked a frequency for radio #5 and everything worked.

Thanks for the help
