Gibson SG blueprints
« on: November 15, 2004, 04:05:05 PM »
Well, I've decided to mix in two of my favorite things to do: woodworking and guitar.

Since I can't afford a real one, I've been trying to get some blueprints and information on the Gibson SG guitar, but with little success.

Do any of you have any measurements and/or scaled drawings of this guitar that you could send my way?

Thanks for any and all help!

Try looking through the US Patent office for Gibson SG (or solid guitar).   I recall seeing 3-view drawings in their application.  Not sure if they are scale or not.

I just bought a Gecko 5 bass body and neck from them (Warmoth).  Very high quality parts.

i hope he's not planing on trying to make a neck...

doing the spacing perfect for the correct intonation is incrediblly hard. 0.1 of a millimeter off and the guitar will never tune properly.

buy a pre made neck.

Thanks for the info!

My plans are to make my own body, but purchase a neck.  I've heard that, as JB said, getting the spacing and everything right is near impossible for an amateur such as myself.

I'm not going solo on this first one.  I've got a guy at my church who makes them for a hobby who has done around 100 helping me.

Pugg, I'd love whatever you have.  Please send it to bnicely@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Pugg, Ive spent the last hour or so working with it.  I can't seem to get anything to bring out the numbers.  You wouldn't happen to have a readable version would you?

I can make out many of the letters, but the numbers on the body are what's busting me up.
