Setting up controls
« on: January 30, 2005, 12:29:22 AM »
Hello, I just downloaded AH to try it out since its first iteration way back in the last millenium  :)

I fly in Warbirds 2004 and find that setting up my controls there is very simple and intuitive.  But when I tried off line mode here in AH, I took one look at the setup and thought "how and I going to get through this?"

I'll get to the point!  How the heck do you setup your controls in this sim?  I use a CH products setup (fighterstick, pro throttle, pro rudders)  and I cant seem to figure out how to set the buttons to what I want on what controller.  Reading the help file didnt really accomplish anything as I tried setting up my controls assuming it would be at least somewhat similar to the setup on warbirds (as it was in the early version in AH I recall).  But apparently it isnt.  Any tips?

The easiest way is to use the ch software...  Map buttons to keys.....

Setting up control is easy, indeed.

Go to NetAces.org  and at game setup you will find what you need

You can also do a seach in past BBS messages, you will surely find accurate instructions.

CH products are Analog or USB?

The diference is one uses speed keys and the other    uses the new mapping program.

If you use speed keys, map the keys in there.
If you use USB stuff map keys inside the game and not through CH's mapping manager. If you use the CH mapping mgr you will need to reload the settings everytime you start your computer.

Either way I use CH products. If you need help shoot me an email and we can meet in the TA and I'll help you get set up.

Did you know you can also adjust your views? If you can swivel and move your head as in RL then you can do the same in AH2.

You may also want to adjust your stick throws and damping.
